Just wish they called it the MGE. Would have been a nice nod to the MGB
  • Slightly awkward name aside, this is a great effort from MG. They have managed to give it its own look without doing an embarrassing retro design or copying a Boxster. Great looking car and I would happily drive one - I like it a lot.

Not suitable for taller drivers? Sounds like MG really is back to their roots 😁

The Dark Grey with Red roof and a red interior would look stunning
  • @Fastwunz
I genuinely wouldn’t mind having one of these on my drive

The only time I'd ever have a set of golf clubs in my boot would be if I was taking them to the tip for my neighbour.

I sat in one at Everything Electric Amsterdam last October [2023]. And honestly, I was blown away. I asked the assistant there at the time if she could tell me the price. She couldn't, fair enough. Ball park figure? £60K for the single motor and £70K for the dual motor. And it turns out that they are £10K cheaper. In the metal this is a very pretty car. Much nicer than here. It would easily pass my "look-back as I'm waking away" test. Tbh, I think I'd be eating a few meals on my doorstep while I sat there looking at it. 😊

Grey with the red roof and 1/2 red interior looks a classy spec.
  • Clearly a different experience with no engine noise but I can imagine roof down that could be quite enjoyable. Why people bought diesel roadsters so they could listen to a truck engine rattle along roof down I have no idea. Weighs about the same as a Jag F type of equivalent power, for comparison - and they’ve copied that interior handle from the F type also.

They should put out a smaller roadster similar in size to the Mazda MX-5 & call it the MG E & give that retro styling

Thank you, this is a great little vid; I've seen a few others and this is far and away the best, with notably high production values. Will Nightingale judges the presenting duties just so, managing to keep things brisk, demonstrating great knowledge and shoehorning in lots of info, too (far more than seen elsewhere). Really good work. Can't afford one, but now fully informed!

Thanks for the honest review, unfortunately it cost approximately 10,000£ than I was expecting, it will cost even more in Europe. For a while, I will stick with my Z4, Hopefully in two or three years I will found a secondhand with a reasonable price.

Mr Clarkson said the Chinese were coming I think they’ve arrived.

The review with proper public charging is super🎉
  • @Peter-MH
Didn’t expect to like this, but actually looks great!!

In '81, my girlfriend had a white MGB. This new modern experience, at least on paper is NEXT LEVEL
  • @smithleon
such a pretty car, great job, regardless of who owns the badge these days.
  • @1878EFC
it looks great... and one guy below suggested calling it MGE which I think is a great idea... but as for the references to golf clubs, is that still a thing, ie do people still do the golfing thing?
  • Many many positives but that touch screen being blocked by the steering wheel would drive me mad, how did that get through production like that
  • @CaesarTjalbo
Drinking game: take a shot every time he says "so".
