The Complete Fiction – H.P. Lovecraft | Barnes & Noble Leatherbound ° Collecting Lovecraft

Published 2017-03-27
Hello! This is the Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Edition of the "complete fiction" by the master of horror H.P. Lovecraft.
This specific edition was published in 2011 and it contains all of the stories that were published with a few exceptions.

Binding & paper:

The book is bound in synthetic leather (not real leather) with a graphic glued to the binding. It is smyth-sewn with a ribbon and head- and tale bands in purple. All of the edges on the book are gilded in a silver colour.
The paper is acid-free and quite thin. The text is medium sized and very readable, no problems there.
A summary before each story is included by the H.P. Lovecraft scholar ST Joshi, who also wrote the introduction to this edition.
The book is printed and bound in China.

This edition does NOT contain collaborations with other authors, nor does it contain any ghost written stories by Lovecraft. Also, none of his letters (that weren't published) are in this edition.

Overall, it's a nice book to get if you want to get into H.P. Lovecraft's work. It's moderately cheap and the quality is good enough for what you pay for.

The other editions mentioned in this video are:

- "The Complete Cthulhu Mythos Tales" published by Barnes & Noble.
- "Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H.P. Lovecraft" published by Gollancz.
- "The Complete Fiction of H. P. Lovecraft" published by Race Point Publishing.

  • Additional notes on this edition: The stories are presented in a chronological order. There are footnotes by S T Joshi throughout the book. Otherwise, thank you so much for watching!

Great! Very amazing illustrated, thanks for sharing!

Just bought it, looking forward to owning a copy of his works.

I got the entire narrative in my native language. Even tho the translators tried to adapt some parts to maintain the original writing as much as they could (Zadok in The Shadow Over Innsmouth speaks like an andalusian lol), I knew reading it in it's original language would be far more satisfying. I'll definitively get this book the next month.
  • I grabbed mine army local Barbs & Noble because sometimes there are flaws in the leather. Example when I was buying mine I grabbed the copy at the bottom of the stack because it clearly had no defects, while the one on top had the cosmos image too off center. Just be aware that ordering one online may or may not guarantee it being perfect or not, overall I’d say this and the copy of the complete Cthulhu mythos are well worth both getting.

We need an actual complete works of everything Lovecraft touched and all the stories that others finished for him. Like The Curse of Yig isn't in this one so technically its not "complete". I'd like to own one book of everything instead of 2-4 with 1 or 2 stories that are in one but not the others.
  • Really nice and informative video! Thank you so much! Now I'm sure about buying this book! Have an amazing day! :D
  • @Fawltykog
Interesting to note that they removed the 'about the author' section which although listed on the contents page of the edition i have (which is the same as this one in every other respect) is totally missing!

    Just ordered the knucklebracker edition
  • @NoirHammer
It's the second edition and it still has typos and is missing stories. I have the "Chartwell Classics" edition which has more stories (I did a quick comparison of the table of contents of both books) but not that nice a cover. It was published in 2016. However, it's superior for the two reasons I mentioned even though there's no Joshi intro..
  • Great video! thanks a lot. You seem to be the right person to ask about The Complete Cthulhu Mythos Tales Barnes & Noble. If I buy that edition, which other book do I have to buy to complement it and have the entire work of fiction? Thanks in advance! Regards.

What's the difference between this and the complete cthulhu mythos tales? Are the stories that are in this book, but not the cthulhu mythos tales not related to the mythos? Aren't all Lovecraft's works connected in one universe?

Do you recommend this one or the The Complete Fiction of H. P. Lovecraft" published by Race Point Publishin?

Is the book on amazon the corrected version?
