This bottom straddle grip deal is very practical and really easy to begin with and I highly recommended just as a show-off and not as a real cheating purpose by any mean.

Actually this grip was the most easiest one that I've come across compare to any other grip, it just took me about 2 to 3 days of practice for this video. The most difficult part was just to get the right timing and rhythm to deal top and bottom cards. Take care.

The best tutorial! Juan Fernando is a straight-shooter (pun intended) and it's a pleasure to learn his moves. Thanks for your advice & presentation, which is now so slick.
  • @fernandop1
Yes, thanks. I'll do more later on. Regards.

I love this technique. It feels more natural to me than the Erdnase or Madison technique. I do it slightly differently, however, which I think helps to further disguise the second being dealt. I grip the deck the same as you, except that my second finger is nearer to the top-outermost corner of the deck, and I draw the bottom card with the second finger of my other hand, the index finger covering the front edge of the deck. And I draw the bottom card by placing the second finger of the draw-hand between the second and third fingers of the deck-hand. The finger drawing the bottom card cannot be seen, at all, from the front or sides, and all other angles are pretty tight. Couple that with the motion of the hands coming together to effect the deal, and it is impossible to spot the move. Thanks for posting this, as this has helped me out a lot, especially as I have always struggled with the Erdnase technique. This is superior, in my opinion.

  • @fernandop1
Yes, I've been doing the water and oil trick since the 90's (but using both hands because I am not as good as him anyway). Regards.
  • @zarrow50
I think using the second finger to strike out the bottom makes it easier to cover the move and you can still show off by spinning it
  • @chaumas
I wish every sleight I want to learn could be explained in this much detail.
  • @shinjachan
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. Just wondering, is it possible to deal the second card from the bottom?
  • @macphail1974
Could you, please, do a tutorial on the Marlo version, the one with the buckle? I've read the directions but I can't figure it out.

  • @BlindFokusnik
Good technic, but I prefer double-fingered grip, which you can see me using for bottom deal in the end of my video "Dream vol. 1"
