On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

  • When the hypersonic missile hit you in the beginning that jump scared me big time.
  • @yuvl32
Oh, I so missed "It looks like we are saf...BOOM" part )))
  • @GG-yr5ix
SM-6 is Mach 4.8 missile so it's only a little slower than R-37M. Aim-174B has way more range than your radar on fighter sized target.
  • @AdhmKassap
It's sad how is the most of the comments just ignoring the video and talking about other things like suggestions, first, etc.., this video deserve more attention, Great job GS keep the good work :D
  • @wingman2tuc
I think the first 3 needed more guidance. Test with adding an AWACS to help with guidance. AIM-174 is meant to be assisted by a big radar. I thinks it's seeker is for the las 10 - 20 miles
  • @roceye
"40 seconds time to active"- that gave me Undiscovered Country (Star Trek) vibes when Spock was counting down the time to Khitomer...
  • @thecar1888
Is it possible that the size of the Aim-174B increases the radar cross-section just enough to make the F/A-18 easier to lock?
  • They should name this missile the Pheonix II, since being reborn in a more spectacular form is part of what the namesake is supposed to do
  • With the legs on the AIM-174, the F-18E/F radar is underanging it. It is meant to be used with a datalink aircraft (specifically the F-35) to provide lock and the hornet to launch on that lock, not it's own. Could you put them in place of the AIM-54's on a F-14B with it's AUG-9 radar. It should have the range to take advantage of the AIM-174? I am not a DCS player, but love your videos.
  • @MrSageOlorin
I know they are using the Super Hornet as a testbed for the AIM 174b, but wouldn't other aircraft be able to carry it eventually, assuming their wings have the structural stability? Maybe, like an F-15E with AIM 174s vs SU 57 with R-37s? That could be a neat matchup. I would say it would be a good idea for the 'Outmatched' series, but the F-15's radar is kind of a beast...
  • easy to determine time window for missile vulnerability - make a chart of distance and time for the R77.
  • @GlitchersCO
Would have really like to see the tacview on this one. I miss when you used to do them all the time
  • @thunderlucas8923
GS once again perfectly timing his lines before BLAM 😂 Love the showcase as always!
