Had an uncle who was in the army Corp of engineers, uncle who was a tank mechanic, my dad was a flight engineer in the army air corp in WW2. They all talk just like the guys featured here. They were the greatest generation!

Ordinary men that stepped up did heroic, incredible thing's in the face of death. The definition of bravery and valor.

My grandfather wasn't a Ranger but he served in the Army in Europe firing howitzer guns. This makes me think of him. God Bless them all!

To all the men and women of the greatest generation that are still with us thank you for what you have done for the United States and for the world

The only thing I can think to say to these guys is, "Thank you, boys. Thank you."

Kinda surprised those troop shelters didn’t have any kind of sentries posted. I guess they weren’t expecting any company.
  • I can't explain how much I admire these men's bravery. So much heart and selfishness. Thank you to anyone and everyone who has served and fought and gave there precious life for the USA

God Bless that gentleman. Because of those veterans of WW2 I was taught English in school. I'm 85 and Korean veteran. I may get to meet him one day.

Back when MEN WERE MEN. God Bless Everyone of Those MEN
  • Thanks boys, without your efforts and sacrifices who knows where we'd be.
  • WWII vets are the greatest heroes of our time. I am ashamed at the gross disrespect we give these men by simply showing them what society has become since they won the battle between freedom and darkness
  • Here's to Robinson, Potraz, and Travatto for making themselves available for commentary on the reality of what they lived, and barely survived. And even more to the tens of thousands referred to at the end of this video. In Robinson's scenario, how could the other pillboxes not have been alerted to defense when they heard previous explosions going off? It sounded like each one was taken by surprise, and they were only 100yds from each other. In Potraz' case, how could it have taken 2.5-3 days to get the artillery and tanks the mission deserved? Amazing asymmetric destruction from just a few guys on a hill... The power of elevated terrain. They had >just< enough in reserve mentally, physically, and weapons/ammo-wise to last until the help arrived. Travatto - Staten Island tough... Even during his narrative I respected his relaying of his experience - couldn't have been speaking so directly about the experience without overcoming horror of it all. Then, when he mentions this at the end, speaks to a transformative experience where talking is exactly what he felt he needed to do. Thank you so much for speaking. God be with you all...
