My all-time favorite cyclist! ❤ Thanks for the career retrospective 👍🏽

He’s like a prime Sagan, only better, and even more entertaining. That second stage in ‘21 tdf was legendary, winning the bonus seconds twice on the circuit and still enough in the tank to win the stage and get into yellow for his late grandpa. It was magical.

And in between all that he won over a 100 cyclo cross races, is unbeaten in mountainbike short track races and was probably the best mountainbiker of 2019. Unfortunately he didn't ride the MTB World Championship that year because it conflicted with the mentioned Road World Championship in Harrogate. He has also had some streaks where f.e. he would win his first cyclo cross race of the season, then switch to the road and win his first race, then switch to mountainbike and win the first race, back to the road to win the first race again, to finish it off with cyclo cross and winning the first race.

The double Mur de Bretagne TdF win is something I'll never forget. The commentators didn't know what was going on, only after the first time up they realized VdP needed the bonus seconds of the first climb for a potential yellow, but only if he won the stage, going up again. Which he did. Crazy stuff.

Rise? Come on! This guy was born into cycling royalty! Are you kidding? 😂

Very nice recap of his career! Been following him since the beginning in cylcocross. He never disappoint. A pleasure to watch him.

Unbelievable rider and an unforgettable one too! ALOT of results there in 15 minutes!! Plus he’s earned a lot of wins by himself….. and not dropped off at the line like some winners 🤔
  • @glywnniswells9480
He has the talent of his father and the hunger and tenacity of hia grandfather
  • His watt spikes after super long races are absolutely incredible. Popping off monsters Wout van Aert and Mads Petersen in Worlds was jaw dropping. He has to be careful with his back issues so that he can continue entertaining us....

Who would have expected that. Out of nowhere… I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that we'll be hearing a lot more from this young man.
  • @fodiographer
wow great summary of his career so far 👍 In theory he can be 3 times World Champion in 3 disciplines in one single year if he wins the MTB race this Saturday but this is a long shot because he didn't do much training on a mountain bike this year.
  • @mmgerotto
Unfortunately there's the risk of this video not ageing well if he becomes TRIPLE world champion this week =p
  • @dutchsmartieYT
