Back out west for our NFL Training Camp tour hitting the Bay Area to sit with longtime friend, Super Bowl Champ and Hall of Fame Safety turned NFL GM, John Lynch who is looking to continue San Fran's winning ways with sights set on winning another 49ers Super Bowl trophy. With the Niners under the microscope for questionable draft and roster moves after trading the 2021 3rd overall draft pick QB Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys. Lynch goes into detail about how they target players, build depth and decide on who will make up the best locker room and contribute on the field. Understanding how hard it is to get to a Super Bowl, let alone win one, Lynch shares the mindset and commitment he has to his new executive role as well as the confidence he has in QB Brock Purdy and other key team leaders.

Missing that competitive urge and week-to-week edge of wins and losses, Lynch shares with Ryan, Channing and Fred why he pivoted from broadcasting to get closer to the scoreboard. After a legendary career, Lynch went from building a name for himself in the media space to inside the meeting rooms with owners and GMs.

Making the difficult transition from a less demanding career of broadcasting back to living and breathing football all year round, Lynch relied on his family and support from his wife to be the backbone to his career moves.

Lynch wouldn’t be able to execute his GM position without mentorship and brotherhood along with lessons he carries with him from his playing days. His former teammates, Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks, have remained close to him and are always there when he needs them. Lynch uses the will and energy that Sapp had as a blueprint to help develop a profile for the type of player he’s looking to draft. Looking ahead to the 2023 season, Lynch is clear with his thoughts that building a good team and having fun is all ok but he went to San Fran to win the whole dam thing and is ready to see that goal through this year.

Ed reed or Ray Lewis we need these guys on the pivot. Also just want to say this is by far the best podcast the conversation is always natural never feels pushed or coerced into something ppl don't want to talk about just a great show every time!!
  • @dawn7220
Really good conversation where the guest gets to speak freely, once again, without interruption. Bravo 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾

John Lynch was a MONSTER on the field. Men feared being hit by this man. Even knocked out his own brother-in-law in a game. He was an important piece of that vaunted Bucs defense of the late 90s and early 2000s. It sucks he didn't finish his career as a Buccaneer, but he will forever be a Bucs legend.

This fellowship John LYNCH speaks of in the Locker Room is the same thing that drives Military relationships . There is a camaraderie like no other that bonds them together for life . As usual The Pivot knocks it out the Park !

The humility that all of you guys display is refereshiing and inspirational beyond comprehension. GOOD WORK!!!!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!!
  • They say that this man would sit in the showers for hours after a game crying with headaches!!! Self-inflicted, I must add. A true head hunter 💯
  • John Lynch was a beast back then with the Buccaneers with their defense. A Force to be reckon with and their defense was up there with the Ravens in the early 00'. Top 10 safety for sure
  • @DrJack144
The interview quality on this channel is amazing. You get more out of these athletes than others do. Thanks so much for doing this!
  • Lynch mentioned Simeon Rice. Dude wasn't a run stopper, but he was a monster at getting that quarterback. He deserves HOF consideration.
  • Another Great Podcast Episode You Guys Keep Up The Great Work
  • @jasonm7354
John was amazing player HOF. Good person to.
  • Amazing leader , player, and human being that is able to relate and bring people of all different backgrounds together !!
  • On MNF, Rams v Bucs, Lynch plastered Marshall Faulk on a run play. Faulk got up and told 47, 'Just bring it John!' but the way he said it, he was clearly dazed and was seeing stars------47 yelled back at him, 'Yeah, you don't like being hit, do you!!??' Loved it!!
  • Lynch was on one of the best NFL defenses ever. He was no joke as a safety.
