Slow Down : Buachaille Etive Mor Glencoe

Published 2024-01-17
Sometimes life can be fast paced and that can spill into our past times too. I maybe didn't heed this when I headed to the mountains when feeling exhausted but what did happen was that I was forced to slow down and enjoy the hike even though I was going slowly slowy. Sometimes a slower pace (both literally and metaphorically ) is a good thing.....

This what Murray CAN DO when he isn't feeling well... for the rest of us, we have no excuses!! atb everyone
  • Didnt know about this channel until Dec last year, i live in Cumbria and have always spent my spare time on the fells, life events had lead me to really quite a bad place mentally, so much so that i couldn't find the motivation and the desire to be in a place which usually heals and recharges my mind. After watching one of your videos recommended by youtube i spent a week or so just appreciative of your respect and love for the mountains, and the breathtaking footage you present in these videos, (i think i have now seen almost all your posts) i took 5 days off work 7-12th jan, went to Torridon as a destination and worked my way back home no plan just did 3 random Munros, Ffion Bheinn, Ben Wyviss, Meall Chuaich, also a few low level walks, and although im not where i want to be mentally i feel a 1000 times better of a place than i was, and im inspired by the Scottish landscape, But seriously thank you because im sure im not the only person your videos allow to connect with the mountains who arent always able to be there in person you take us there in spirit

I agree more and more with this sentiment - it's good to slow it down and linger a wee while...
  • I love the fact that you obviously enjoy walking/climbing those Munros and that you take us with you!

Next best thing to being there yourself is being with Murray. For me, you show the mountains and snow better than anybody. Nothing arty farty just pure art and it's beautiful, it's wonderful. Glad to hear you felt a lot better back in the van. Take care, Murray, and thank you.
  • Nothing but respect from me, Murray. I've followed your channel for years now and I've used it as a basis for my own yomping adventures. I'm 50 years old and although my mind is still 20 years old, my joints and spine begrudgingly scream otherwise. After recently touring Snowdonia I came to the same conclusion you did at the beginning of this video. God bless you Murray and may the battles you choose be fruitful ones.🙏

I'm past 60 now so shorter hikes are all I can manage, but I think I enjoy them all the more, because I have more time to enjoy the scenery

Lovely adventure! The black and white photography reminded me of Ansel Adam’s which again makes you feel like slowing down because they are more timeless. Thank you to the wonderful ‘On the adventure trails’s Mr & Mrs O’ for recommending your channel. 🥾🏔️🌞
  • Heaven on earth is Glencoe! Gloriously beautiful, wonderful images…. I can only imagine the solitude was deafening….. maybe your body was telling you to smell the roses 🌹 xx

I'm a slow walker by nature unfortunately 🐌🐢😆 but sometimes my energies are quite low and I have to (metaphorically) kick my own backside to get up a hill. Once I do I then feel much better for it. Many thanks for another glorious video in glorious Winter conditions with glorious photos at the end 👌
  • @jbairdexp
Another fantastic winter adventure! Great images as well. And you say you're not a photographer!
  • A walk is as good, if not better than a pain killer, I find. Some beautiful drone work on the last few Murray, and photos. Cheers, Gary B
  • @janvandekerk6877
I want to get away from all the existential shit down here in South Wales and head up to beautiful magnificent Scotland and meet up with intelligent , fit out door loving guys like you mate !
  • Glorious video again. The frosty hills and clouds made for great photography. I'm definitely going to have to go up these hills this year. Slower than you on a slow day, probably. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Murray another great adventure. That Munro along with two others in Glencoe were not listed when I commenced my Munro adventure in the 90s at that time i was focusing in on 277 Munro’s. It the became 284 Munro’s nearing the end of my task both More and Beg got an addition and Bidean Nam Bian got Sob Coir Sgreamhach was my final Munro so as I could celebrate in the best pub in the world The Clachaig inn. Look forward to your next adventure. Great Saturday evening entertainment.
  • Another great video and lovely photos at the end. So the cure for feeling exhausted is climb a couple of summits and you'll end up with a bounce to your step you didn't have before you did that.

A lovely film, Murray...I'm now 60 and when I go out for the day solo, I decide when I get to a place whether it's plan A or plan B. Sometimes I feel good and go for plan A, sometimes if I don't feel good or the weather is not too brilliant I choose plan B...wandering in the low country, meeting folk and even having a pint at the end! It's all about enjoying our wonderful country, not ticking off Munros etc.
  • Another belter Murray, cant beat the hills with a bit of snow on them! Cheers, James
  • @John71
Thank you Murray, hope you are feeling better, slowing down is a good thing sometimes, allows a recharge. Beautiful and cinematic, your videography is lovely in this one. Think this end of the ridge, for me anyway, is more beautiful than Stob Dearg.

Another excellent adventure although I have to admit the title had me worried for a semi-retirement announcement 😂 really glad it wasn't!
