This video explains exactly how to flip reset in Rocket League from beginner to advanced. I cover the step by step process of how to perform one if you've never done it before, the different types of flip resets, how to practice them for any skill level, and how to use them competitively in real game scenarios.

The flip reset is one of the most insane mechanics you can implement reasonably in competitive matches. Considering it wasn't used in RLCS until 3 years after Rocket League's release, you can tell how difficult it is to learn. However, as hard as it is to defend, it's even harder to perform. This is why we only want to do it in the situations where it's actually necessary, since it can result in a pretty dangerous counter attack if you don't at least put it on target. Hopefully by the end of this video you'll be on your way to learning how to flip reset consistently from plenty of scenarios.

"the first step to learn how to flip reset is learning how to air dribble" me who can barely do some ground dribbles watching this anyways
  • I’m gunna give you guys a HUGE tip that I NEVER see anyone mention about flip resets. First, a flip reset is only possible because the ball is recognized by the game as a surface, and if all four wheels are touching a surface you get your flip “reset.” Since this is true, it is also true that holding “R2”, “L2”, and neither (while at the point of contact) makes a significant difference. I find using neither most consistent. Holding R2 will slightly push you in front of the ball which you (normally) don’t want. L2 is extremely useful. If you break with L2 at the moment of contact, you almost get “glued” to the ball. This is good for getting resets with high momentum, or to start a double, or triple. I feel like nobody knows about this. Even if you are a high level player, test it out. You will notice the difference. Takeaway: When you make contact on a reset: -Make sure you are not holding “Drive.” -Advanced players: Experiment with holding “brake.” I stumbled upon this when analyzing one of JSTN’s triple flip resets. A clip where he had his controller layout on-screen and noticed he held L2 on the first reset. Hope this helps!

I haven’t played rocket league in months and still watch these

It’s nice that now you can say “you can use the ball control feature” without having to add “if you’re on pc and have bakkesmod.” I do have a pc and of course I use bakkesmod but I put in about 400 hours on xbox before I even got a pc and bakkesmod made my practicing overwhelmingly more efficient.

here's aa tip that no one ever mentions, once you get the reset tilt up immediately after so it pushes the ball higher making the second touch easier to do
