  • Thank you metallica, for helping me save my baby brothers life, I was babysitting, and I had put him down for a nap, he was fine, sleeping, and 4 months old. I put this song on, quietly and looked on him, he was breathing, l hit the 999 and started compressions, not easy, when he was so little, this song was playing in the background the whole time, I am happy to say that my baby brother turned 30 years old January 19th this year, way to go Metallica,!!!!!!!!

This song feels like a hug when you're lonely.

As a 45 yo grown man - that opening acoustic still brings me to tears every time I hear it. For those of you who are suffering never ever give up on yourselves…

I think the reason why this song has comforted millions for decades is because the lyrics describe no specific reason causing the sadness, like other songs which would describe something such as mourning a loss, breakup etc. But this is for everyone suffering no matter what they are going through, that's why it's been able to relate to millions and comfort them too. Thank you Metallica for helping me and so many others through our deepest dark times when we had no one to turn to.
  • Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further, every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly loss, this can't be real I cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness, taking dawn I was me, but now he's gone No one but me Can save myself But it's too late Now I can't think Think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though It never existed Death greets me warm Now I will just say goodbye Bye...

That guitar solo...just close your eyes and you feel every emotion they put into the song

I gotta say this right now, if this isn’t played at my funeral, I’m not going

I deal with daily depression and this song pulls me back every time. If this song didn't exist, I would have been gone in the 80's. Here I am in 2023 still needing it.

I miss my dad terribly... this was played at his funeral years ago, this song was always top tier before... it's different now... i can only imagine him playing his drum set now. I see him playing songs now in my head, i can see him and his facial expressions... i love you dad.

Sometimes you need darkness to find light, loneliness to find company and sadness to find happiness.

Just lost my mom to Liver and Kidney failure. This song makes me happier. She was pretty young too. I'm just trying to hang in there. It's really hard. Love you mom!

THERE IS NO BETTER SONG WHEN GOING THRU A ROUGH PATCH JUST HOLD OUT TILL TOMORROW EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT

The simple fact that METALLICA knows this dark feeling is comforting AND inspirational. "Yesterday seems as though it never existed" gets me everytime. You can't go back to your good old days but you can power through, move forward, and make good new days.
  • @rorschach7507
