What a disaster. For YEARS we have talked about the problems going on and for years they were ignored. I do not buy a word said in those blogs and it's all damage control. Can you trust things they say now? All i know is the studio needs to clear things up quick.

You could FEEL our D2 money going literally everywhere EXCEPT Destiny. They told us a single Whisper ornament paid for an entire mission but somehow every new activity felt anemic and bare bones. I used to buy Silver but I stopped because I could tell I was bankrolling other games, and my money wasn't going back into D2. D2 was the only thing they currently had income from and they put our money into cancelled projects while telling us they couldnt afford employee time for new D2 armor sets. Bullshit.
  • @1leggeddog
Its never a dev problem. I'm talking as someone with 15 years experience in the industry. IT NEVER IS. It is always, ALWAYS a manager/direction/CEO/shareholder problem.
  • @wg5331
Leadership 101: if you manage or lead an organization, everything that happens under your watch always falls on you. Bungie has been known for using excess resources in development for awhile now and from the outside looking in, this appears to have been a known problem that Parsons continued to allow to happen. IMO, he needs to resign due to obviously not having Bungie be profitable but more importantly, getting new future hires not hesitant to apply to a job where layoffs can appear to occur at a more frequent rate than other studios
  • @abagofT
It’s crazy that they really put the responsibility of new player on-boarding on the backs of veteran players. If a new player doesn’t have someone to guide them through things (that is, if they payed for dlc) then they are going to be overwhelmed from the jump.
  • @jrockz133t
Bungie changing their motto seems to have hurt more than many think. "We make games that we enjoy" to "We make games for others to explore" shows the greed of upper management stomping out creativity
  • @asperry97
All this "We". Pete Parsons sounds like the fucking Witness
  • @Travissaur
Won’t be surprised if it came out that Parsons is embezzling money from Bungie.
  • @rameseO
With all that money blown, instead of spreading leadership thin on incubation projects, Bungie could have possibly upgraded some of their background hardware, brought back and updated TONS of shelved content, and/or began production of a movie/series which would have brought more new eyes on the franchise.
  • @dandyman7819
I remember calling for Parsons to resign after the Vanilla D2 XP throttling scandal. It was the surest way to signal to the fanbase that the company was actually contrite. As it turns out, maybe that could have saved a lot of trouble...
  • @MyNameIsNurf
Leadership NEVER. Fucking. Listened. We told them over and over and over again EXACTLY what we wanted in this game and now they never fucking listened. Too much fucking money crammed in both their ears. This game will go down in history as the most mismanaged, missed opportunity in all of gaming. It hurts.

Sony should be getting the forensic accountants in at this point. They invested $3.6B TWO years ago. Where did that money go? What happened to it?
  • 2025 proposed release date for Marathon and not a single discussion of the beta. I don’t think there is much there
  • Bungie seems to have this problem of "The grass is greener on the other side" way of looking at things. Obviously this has lead to massive problems. A wise man once told me "The grass is greener where you water it". Take notes Pete P.......
  • @ItzNRD
As a longtime Bungie fan, this really does feel like what happened during H2 development on a much grander scale.
  • When a company is bought out employees are always the first to lose, the purchasing company wants to recoup as much as possible. However I place all this on Pete and the other C suits. They always want to expand . Its funny, though, because most people really want stability in their lives. It's kind of a big deal for most people. But it's not possible to have stability and never ending expansive growth. There are people on the ground who care and want to make something fun and engaging. They get used up and then thrown away.
  • @Truds
I’m just waiting for the New Tower Spawn Point Strike Team
  • @macy1066
Management will take the money but never, ever the responsibility.
  • It's insane to me that Bungie adopted the games as a service model for Destiny but never actually understood the service aspect. The service industry is judged completely by the level of service provided correlated with price. If you hire a landscaping company to mow your lawn, no one is going to rehire the company that only mows half your lawn but still charges you full price. However at Bungie, you have epic morons like Justin Truman bragging about how they are purposely watering down and worsening their service so that their customers don't expect the service to be too good while simultaneously pricing Destiny at a point where it's one of the most expensive games to play in the entire industry. Then they act shocked when they start hemorrhaging customers and money. The incompetence of Bungie's leadership is truly unfathomable.
