R2 is star wars. The font is in blue in the beginning because it is a story told from his data banks... discovered by George when he found r2s remains in the middle of a redwood forest he was venturing in as a young adult, while he and his friends were on a camping trip.

I believe they confirmed that most of star wars is being told from the perspective of R2D2 he makes an appearance in basically every movie as farther proof.

My favorite R2 moment will always be when he fixed the hyperdrive in Episode V and Vader does that frustrated double take after the Falcon disappears. I've always imagined his inner monologue at the time was something like "That had to have been R2." 😅
