This was one of the songs that caught my ear when I was a child and realised that I loved music.

I will never forget mum's tears as this played on the radio the week my dad got killed at work.😢

I met my wife (she was a girl) in summer -84 and this was the number one. Now I have been married with her over 30 years with. This song still take me back those lovely years when I was young. Only heavens knows how I love her.

The guitar solos take it to another level. Amazing!!!
  • One of the greatest songs ever made. When you reach the fading guitar solo at the end, you'll wish it could last 3 more minutes, that's why it works.

I hear the beautiful Irish Gaelic melody flow through this modern classic... a credit to you Mike and Maggie ☘️

I was at my best friend's house, summer 1983, when we heard this song playing on the radio. We went to a records shop and I bought the single. I was 13 years old...now I am 53 but it is fresh still in my memory that moment when we heard the song for the very first time. I still have the single...😊

Maggie Reilly sings this great song so beautifully
  • Maggie Reilly has such a heavenly voice; like butterfly wings and honey...

The echo is something so unusual but absolute genius in the song!!

the solo's talk... the bends, the distortion.... they're glorious

I cry every time I hear this song. When I was a little girl back in the 80s, my Dad played this song all the time. It’s so beautiful and haunting. We lost Dad in 2017, I’m getting a tattoo, “I stay, I pray, see you in heaven far away” with Dad’s ashes mixed in with the ink. Before anyone replies saying it’s not safe, Dad was cremated, and the ashes are sterile. My son also has a tribute tattoo with his ashes in the ink, done by a highly reputed tattoo artist.

In the summer of 1983, I was driving in Hungary with a beautiful girl and the radio played this song. I've been a professional musician since 1972 as a guitarist. I told the girl it was going to be a big hit, she laughed at me... This song is 41 years old this year and Michael Oldfield is a brilliant muse, congratulations on this remix! This song alone is worth as many Beatles songs
