My campaign ended when the party basically did everything Strahd asked. Gave him the Sun Sword because it was a family heirloom and he asked nice. Helped him burn down Vallaki because he claimed they'd slighted him. Basically brought him Ireena on a silver platter after he told them his (obviously extremely edited to make him look better) Tragic Backstory™ since they never found the Tome of Strahd. And what did he do to these poor, foolish adventurers? These unwitting pawns who had so stupidly given him the keys to escaping his eternal nightmare, and possibly breaking the cycle of his failures? He let 'em go. Led em to the gate they came in from, and waved goodbye. And as the gate closed and Barovia vanished in a whirlwind of mist, I delighted in giving my friends a long, painfully detailed rundown of the "How Could You Possibly Have Fucked It Up This Bad? Like Holy Shit Dude." Ending

I love curse of strahd, it allows for such creativity and stuff. Like I can see a whole special story played out in your campaign that is 100% different then mine. So. Cool.

Ngl your campaign sounds very interesting- re writing Strahd as not toxic would be a major character change and I am most intrigued by how that could be pulled off.
