why does drew always do something no one asked for?

"Nostalgia is a drug that causes us to misconstrue our memories." That's legitimately perfect.

OJ killed it on SNL. He really slayed that audience. Murder.

You know as someone from Europe who only knew SNL at its worst this is actually fascinating. I never realised how many A-class Hollywood stars started their careers on that show, let alone how many B-class actors even had a career at all simply because they could put it in their resume.

The “SNL got political” take is on par with the “I liked Rage Against the Machine before they got political” take.
  • Here's an observation from an old guy. That nude beach sketch where they keep saying 'penis'? The joke behind it is that it had just recently become okay to use the word 'penis' on TV so they were going to get as much mileage out of it as possible.

the oj simpson thing is hilarious. he was told not to make jokes about him bc one of the people in charge was friends with him and responded by making one every single episode until he was fired.

I’d love if Drew made a playlist of his favorite sketches.

16:14 It's kinda hard to believe nowadays, but Keanu Reeves used to be a punching bag of Hollywood. He did such a good job in Bill and Ted that people just thought he was Ted IRL. Thankfully most of it went away after The Matrix released in 1999 and people realized he was a serious actor, then finally put to rest for good after John Wick in 2014.

As someone who has never seen a full episode of SNL, I really appreciate this comprehensive recap

It's crazy how many huge staple actors and comedians come out of SNL.

My favorite SNL sketch was one from when Norm Macdonald was hosting. It’s about two rival street gangs that are meant to be like the ones from West Side Story where they’re all dancing around and singing, but Norm, who’s one of leaders, isn’t in on it so he’s just confused and standing off while everyone’s just dancing around.

I have never watched nor cared about SNL, but it's nice getting 37 minutes of Drew speaking on something he's passionate about.
  • I've never heard of SNL before this video but I've realized I like Eurovision song contest in the same way Drew likes SNL. Yes, it sucks, but sometimes something really funny and iconic happens and it's worth it. It's a trainwreck with some hidden gems.

I honestly really enjoy watching Drew's rants/ video essays about tv shows and movies because I feel like he is really passionate about film and comedy, so it's nice to watch this kind of yt video.

I love watching full length videos about a show that I, a European, didn't know existed until a couple years ago.

Drew: “Now that every episode ever made is on Peacock…” Me: “Oh shit did he get sponsored by NBC?” Drew: “A streaming service I’ll stop using the moment I’m done with this video.” Me: “…Guess not”

Rip to that one guy who hosted in 1978. Whoever that was
