A British Airways Boeing 777-200 (B772), registration G-VIIN, performing flight BAW18B / BA158 from Hamilton Bermuda International Airport (Bermuda) to London Heathrow Airport (United Kingdom) just before takeoff was instructed by the air traffic controller that they received the information regarding a bomb threat. THE VALUE OF THIS VIDEO:
THE MAIN VALUE IS EDUCATION. This reconstruction will be useful for actual or future air traffic controllers and pilots, people who plan to connect life with aviation, who like aviation. With help of this video reconstruction you’ll learn how to use radiotelephony rules, Aviation English language and general English language (for people whose native language is not English) in situation in flight, which was shown. THE MAIN REASON I DO THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND EVERY EMERGENCY SITUATION, EVERY WORD AND EVERY MOVE OF AIRCRAFT.

HOW I DO VIDEOS:
1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.

As a Brit, i know we have patience in bucket loads, but my god that Pilot was super patient given the circumstances. Frustration all round. "20 minutes on the stairs" would have just been my last red flag.

This a teachable moment for Bermuda, the emergency protocols have to be updated NOW. Kudos to the ATC she did a great job, she isn't in control of the emergency services or whom ever drives the stairs. She was only the messenger.
-
Well, that was a giant CF! That Bermuda airport’s operating authority needs to update its emergency procedures ASAP!
-
Excellent to call for May Day by the captain when he wasn't getting the attention he required. Very professionally handled by the BA crew
-
Disgraceful by airport. Absolutely disgraceful in every respect. A huge pat on the back to the aircraft crew for their patience dealing with exceedingly poor airport response. As a former Captain I am pretty sure I would have popped the slides at the 40 minute mark based on what was happening.
-
Stand by and please don't explode in the next 40 minutes. Perhaps the airport should revise the protocol again. The stairs are somewhere within easy reach and should be on the way to the plane in a few minutes.
-
I don't think this was as much on ATC as the airport authority... She was working with what she was being told by others. I think she did well given what she was dealing with...the Captain made a call and did what he needed to do, also given his circumstances. They did well with what they had

The pilots had plenty of motives to be upset by how things were handled. In all fairness, two bomb threats at once make it quite difficult when it comes to coordination and resources allocation.
-
I loved his professionalism despite his frustration. With the volume of air traffic this airport has, sounds like they should update and reconfigure their emergency policies. They did Ok in the long run, but if there were a bomb threat I would not like to sit on a plane for over 40 minutes and just wait to see if it was going to blow up or not while waiting for help.
-
That lady handled it like a CHAMP! So calm, cool & professional. What a star!
-
You evacuate the terminal right away because of a bomb threat, but the airplane that got a bomb threat is told to keep the people on board. Makes no sense.
-
This was super frustrating to watch
-
This is not how you manage an active credible threat. The airport authorities handled this abysmally.
-
The unpreparedness of Bermuda airport is unimaginable.
-
Mercy...utter amazed at the pilot and crew's calm nature.
-
Very proud of my husband (The Captain)
-
Surprised cap't didn't use the slides on first information of bomb threat.
-
Tower probably did the best she could but looks like the rest of the team was already at the bar... In all fairness it might be the first time they had such event, they need to ramp up the response next time
-
Bermuda is a nice place for vacation. But, please have mercy, incompetence of those people on the ground is staggering.

Curious to know what the pilots told the passengers the reasoning as to why takeoff was cancelled and sitting idle for eons; dare say they didn’t tell them about a potential bomb on the aircraft otherwise that would have been chaos
