It was the victim of our test of how much nitrous oxide power boost can be tolerated by a completely stock short-block with the original cast crank, rods, and pistons. Yeah, it ends badly, but before the engine's demise we learn a lot, showing you how nitrous oxide increases horsepower and giving you tips on how to use it safely on any engine. This is my favorite EM episode, I wish they would do the same test with nothing more than the stock rings gapped to .030”. With rings gapped properly, 118 gas, and the progressive controller, I bet it would safely handle a 400 shot.

I'm a bit of a geek and have looked up tests of Amsoil against other oils, I would say that using Amsoil contributed to that engines ability to hold together as long as it did and make the power it was making. Unfortunately it is hideously expensive here in the UK, Castrol Edge is probably the best I've used, it burned less and the engine ran better while feeling more responsive and powerful. Edge costs over twice as much as a normal fully synthetic oil but is around half the price of Amsoil.

Come on man! Stock 305 is a honest motor that deserves respect! SBC is a tough stand up guy under the hood and this episode proves that! A Cadillac HT4100 - now that's THE BIG TIME JUNK!

i know a million people have said this.....so it's not stock...just pull an engine out of say a v6 camry and boost it until it explodes...don't say stock when it's not stock
