  • It's night and i need to sleep , I dont even have a deck of cards why am i watching this
  • @cuuppaajoe
Tutorial starts at 3:15 mark. Before that it’s just him performing the trick over and over again.
  • @Goody9081993
I literally just watched how this trick was done and I have no idea how it was done

I've watched David Blaine since his street magic vids were still new. I finally come around to snooping how he did the card tricks and my mind is blown how simple in theory they are. The execution obviously is difficult and only makes me respect Blaine more doing it so god like smooth.
  • @ArmanKhorram
The dude just wanted to show off and not actually show the trick
  • @glenseaman5057
I’ve been in a huge rut with magic lately but having watched a couple of your videos after a while of not watching, your pass makes me want to improve. Absolutely insane

For those annoyed that he didn’t explain the second version where the card magically appears face up, he cuts the deck with your card on top and keeps them separated and uses his finger to hold onto your card while he’s placing it under the top pile. Then he does a slight fanning of the deck and shoots your card out and into his left palm and uses his palm to quickly move the card to the left and up around the side of the deck and pushes it back over on top. If done quickly you’ll never notice. This will work whether you show the card face up or not. It’s just really good hand and card control. The first version he just picks up two cards like he showed you and your card always stays on top. The second version your card does actually leave the top of the deck but it just curves around pile and flicks back on top. You can do this either with a stack of cards or just the single card.

but how the heck did you make it appear face up?
  • @tonyp3173
Man I thought I'd never know how to do this trick. It all makes sense now. The magic is within the magician. They have to make it believable.
  • @CoreyWang
After watching your pass so many times I'm still amazed at how fast you do it.
  • but placing the signed card under the the first card of the deck automatically reveals your doing a double lift,so how do you get the signed card under the first card without them seeing it,putting the signed card on top of the deck puts it in the decoy's card position after the double lift and flipping it over

For those not understanding the 1:20 trick, i empathize. This channel is really good at showing tricks, but not teaching. Teaching is a whole other skillset unfortunately that even the greatest magicians, musicians and athletes find hard to do. I also suspect he is reluctant to fully reveal the trick which is why he just flies pass it toward the bent card version which is way easier. First a few things you must do. One, change the speed of this video to 0.25. 2, brighten your screen to the highest level. Step 1 : Let's start at 1:30 and pause. Here you will notice he has two decks. Deck A - the deck with a card facing down on his left hand. The left hand is facing downwards. Deck B - the deck with a card facing up on his right hand. The right hand is facing upwards. All good? These two decks are the entirety of the trick. You must have these two decks like he does split up between A & B. You are then positioned for success. Step 2: Now release your space bar and stop at the part where he goes " Let me do, once again" . Stop directly when he says the word "once". Yes, this is why you need the 0.25 speed. You will notice at the word "once", his deck is seemingly combined. Correct? Wrong. It is an illusion. The deck is still separated between A & B. You must believe this. The moment you believe the deck is combined you have been tricked. How is it separated? Notice how on his right hand ( which deck is that hand holding? Yes correct, Deck B) the index to pinky finger are covered by the left hand? Those fingers act as an anchor. They are not seen so as to trick you. It is very subtle and he hides his fingers as it is pivotal for the trick to work. It also means that for this trick, you have to position yourself strategically towards your opponent. If your opponent is crouching below you, you're done. Which is why you never see Blaine do this trick for kids or he will crouch down to perform it. Step 3 : This is the flourishing move. Move on to 1:32, where he goes "again" after the word "once". Now, to explain how fast he does it, the whole move is done 1/4 of a second. He does it before he even finishes the word " again". In fact, I think does it in 1/8th of the 1:32 second. So you have to use your space bar and tap it every millisecond even at 0.25x to see the flourish executed. I tapped around 15 times in between the 1.32 second to see it clearly. Here is how it's done. Deck A which is facing down facing Deck B which is facing up, is moved to the left. I repeat, Deck A is moved aside to the left, while Deck B is stationary. Once it is moved, the observer sees Deck B facing up with the signature while Deck A seemingly disappears. It has not disappeared. It was moved to the left, covered by the magician's left hand that is facing up, then slotted to the back of Deck B. How it this done? Flourish and plenty of practice. Another way to think about it is a super sonic fast card cut. How do you do a card cut? You place a top deck below a bottom deck correct? The very same thing happened here. He simply cut the deck. Moving Deck A below Deck B. Deck A was the downward facing. Deck B upward facing with your signature. He did this in 1/4 of a second. With speed, it looks as if your Deck B magically popped to the top, when it was just a fast card cut. I do not know the exact finger movement he did to accomplish it, and I believe it can be done a number of ways, as long as it works for you, that is the basis of the trick.
  • Haha. I love how this is a "instant jump" tutorial, but we still get to see a solid 27-phase ACR as an intro. 😍
