  • Lot of students from India comes to settle down here and not for studies, most of the students change their course to slash their fees which shows they are here just to work and settle down, we don't need such people, we need proper immigration policy to attract cream not some cheap labour.

The recent surge in international student migration to Australia, amid rising interest rates and escalating living costs, creates significant economic strain on Australian citizens. Local graduates face increased competition for limited job opportunities, making it harder to secure employment and repay HECS debts. Simultaneously, the influx of international students is intensifying the demand for rental properties, driving up costs for everyone, including the migrants themselves. This imbalance is causing financial hardship across the board—Australian citizens are struggling with high rental prices and job market challenges, while international students are also facing higher living expenses. To address these issues, the Australian government must find a balance between attracting international students and supporting local graduates. Ensuring that migration policies do not disproportionately impact Australian citizens will help maintain economic stability and fairness in the job market. Otherwise again, the Australian government will never learn from its mistakes!

I have studied in US but prior to that worked in Australia for 2 years and now live in Canada. Truth is countries in Europe, Australia or Canada are not meant for mass immigration, and on top they do not have economic backbone, especially for tech jobs. In terms of quality of jobs, and pay its extremely poor. There is no country in the world that can match the United States for tech jobs, whether it be quality of work or pay. Despite all the 50 years of wait for green card for Indians, even today a top IIT student will pick US for studies, not Australia/Canada/Europe. That's why many Indians are okay living in US on H-1B employment visa for their whole life, rather than easily getting British/Canadian/Australian citizenship in 5 years. Many of my friends went to Canada and Australia from US, and almost all of them ended up. coming back to the US

How about building new hostels for students and making it mandatory for students to stay there during the course? I think its better than cutting the intake

So Australia depends upon international students for their economic growth. wow!!! Dont they have enough natural resources or smarts to shift the gear on something else

No point coming here in desperation. No of opportunities are limited and cost of living is extremely high. Even if you migrate you’ll barely survive. Forget about having your own place ever.

All of the West's problems can be attributed to their liberal democracy ideology. However, it is more important to maintain social values that have proved relevant and effective in the past. It is improbable that a disruptive social order can be a benefit to learning institutions, and being more selective can enhance the learning environment.
