  • I collect because I love it. MOTU is an extension of who I am. It takes me back to when I was a little kid and my happier times is when I was a kid.. The toys, comics and cartoons takes me back to the time when all my family was still alive.

For me it's art. Kinda like you visited the U.S. and loved it. So now you buy a painting of Empire State Building and stick it on your wall, then big apple t-shirts, and small lady liberty statue to stand on your nightstand. Now extend that visit to an entire childhood and those good nostalgic times. I had a few toys as a kid but never was a collector. But as an adult what I did on rare occasion was buy models and toys of stuff from my favorite movies. Loved Christine movie, so I bought Christine Diecast. A year later did same with BTTF delorean and a diecast Voltron anniversary set... I'd always see transformer toys in stores that looked like, well, toys, and pay no mind... But then I was hunting for a TFR Hot Rod toy cause I had one as a kid that I broke and thats when it happened - I came across Studio Series Hot Rod and OMG he looked like he jumped right out of the cartoon. I began collecting and the rest is hostory. The thing is, these action figures now look so cartoon accurate and have so much articulation, that, theyre almost no longer toys - or at least toys as we know it from our childhoods. Lastly, I think with the development of the internet and social media, nostalgia is effortlessly within everyone's reach now. I'll bet those people that ask the "why collect?" question, stream music or shows from their childhood all the time.
  • I collect because I remember coming downstairs and opening Castle Grayskull and being beyond blown away.. It holds a special place that can never go away. And I love that my kids now get to experience this amazing Property with me.
  • I collect because I love storytelling and characters and the artistry that goes into these products has to be appreciated.

I collect bc I love it not for profit. Collecting is part of my life.

I'll always be a collector plain and simple...even when I stop I'll still be peeking to see what's happening
  • I was 14 years old at the time and I was "made" to get rid of my toys. I was able to collect comic books and play video games in my teens. It wasn't until I was 22 years old when I started collecting toys again.
  • I was that guy who never aged out and got crap for it. Didn’t phase me though. I kinda chuckle how mainstream collecting has become. Like everything I was into is now front and center. About time y’all caught up 😂😂

I started collected Transformers as a thing in 1999 when I joined the military. Transformers was something that gave me a sense of peace. Now I also collect Classified because I just click with the 6". I have had people who question it, but I make my money and they can kick rocks.
  • The best pops are Kelloggs Corn Pops! Funko Pops are bobble heads or sometimes called head knockers.
  • I love collecting! I've been doing it 20 plus years! But now i collect banks accounts more but i do buy things on sale . Retail costs are just to hard for me to give up my funds to these days it's not because i can't it's because I've grown smarter in knowing the value of money over plastic . It's very rare for me to jump full price on anything because let's face it ! It's definitely all overpriced. A lot of these new collectors started because of the virus otherwise there would be a lot less of us out there and it also Inflated prices big time because of the demand but now things are slowing down big time as they grow smarter on what they spend and the ridiculous new pricings . I actually started collecting because as a kid i had nothing so i was making up for it in some way i guess .

I think the worst thing I've ever collected was girlfriends. 😂They are extremely expensive. They can be extremely annoying most of the time. And once you move them into your house they cause all types of chaos😂😂
  • @kipzstersToys
I have always collected first it was VHS then DVD. Blu-ray but I went into Smyths toy shop in the UK and saw Castle Grayskull & I was hooked & that was 3 years ago
  • Jay love your content, as a fellow collector please dust your shelves.

People have a misconception that Pops are action figures and/or that Pop collectors see them as action figures. They're vinyl figures. Like those Japanese vinyl figures. And just like Japanese vinyl figures, they're still toys. But not action figures. I hope that helps lol!

I collected GIJoe and Marvel comics in my teens. MCU got me back into it years later. I'd watch the movies, enjoy 'em and move on with life. The first early trailer for Infinity War, blew my mind and I jumped back into the comics to learn the cosmic side in advance. Then my wife bought me 1 figure and that did it. I told myself I can't have Dr. Strange w/o Adam Warlock. Then I felt, well... I guess I need a team. Now I got the good guys and the bad guys. Marvel, DC, MOTU, GIJoe, Star Wars, etc. :) I wasn't a fan of Funkos for a while; but I eventually grabbed a few for unique or hard to find characters, like the MCU Hank Pym and Janet, to name a couple.
