It's officially over three months that I've been waking up with Chess Vibes everyday. First, WOW, that's insane. But second, THANK YOU SO MUCH, honestly, your videos make me feel like I'm just watching a cousin doing what he loves doing and that's soooo chill, I literally have no ways to tell you how much this little routine is precious to me. You're awesome

Halfway through watching this very instructive rating climb series. I appreciate how clearly you articulate your thought & calculation process, and how you always seem to stay cool calm & collected, and never seem to get ruffled! slow clap I will definitely support your channel in the near future by buying some of your paid teaching content. Thank you!

I've been watching lots of chess streamers on YouTube but Nelson is my favorite. He teaches me how to think during the game. This rating climb is so beneficial! Thanks!

Lion's Claw is VERY similar to an opening I spotted on Anarchy Chess that was surprisingly very good. They called it the Anakin Skywalker Attack, and it runs very similar ideas to the claw, but it's a Queen's Pawn opening that basically starts as a Jobava London and if you see KID, you go for the Queen bishop battery, and you have the same pawn structure as the Claw, and you castle long and attack with the Kingside pawns. Good stuff! Love that kind of opening. Throws the KID player completely off his game as they're used to being the ones pushing King Side pawns, not being pawn stormed. 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bf4 d6 3. Nc3 g6 4. Qd2 Bg7 5. Bh6 O-O 6. Bxg7 Kxg7 7. O-O-O This is a typical Anakin Skywalker Attack setup. You will end up playing f3, taking the center if they let you, and pawn storming their King. Their best reply is to throw their Queen side pawns at you, but you get there just a tad faster, and one of you is going to die, just about every time. I play between 1400 and 1600 and last I checked I had something like an 85% win rate against KID thanks to Anakin Skywalker.

These are easily the best chess videos on youtube. I'm learning heaps form them. The format is perfect, the explanations are spot on and super clear and your chess skills are excellent! Thankyou mr Patzer! :P

While you’re explaining the position, your opponents are checking your profile and seeing that you haven’t lost and then they quit πŸ˜‚ This is such a great series, super informative and has really helped improve my way of thinking!

Congrats to 1000! Keep it up Nelson! I hope everyone learned a thing or two already and is able to apply the new knowledge in their own games.
  • @MaxChessman007
Very thankful for this series. I think I've learned "a thing or two". lol. A couple of things that have been very important is understanding the meaning of saving time with tempo, and don't shy away from aggressive moves. Very helpful , learning a lot. Really appreciate you sharing your insights!

Great series m8. I usually play Vienna or caro-kaan ( when allowed) but you're making me want to branch out a bit. Love the calm thought process. I have a bad habit of overthinking early to mid game positions and then losing thru time pressure but you make it straightforward. Keep up the good work ladπŸ‘
  • @TeamGenesisBJJ
This series helped me break into 1000 club on blitz after being stuck under 900 for a year. You explain your thoughts so we'll. Very helpful. Thank you πŸ™
  • @DudeWhoSaysDeez
This is the first video of yours that I have seen. I just subscribed. I like the pace, description, and thought processes of your matches.
  • @phoenix0401
I love how the games become more complicated as the rating rises
  • @irate818
Nelson love this series. I have been learning so much and I don’t get bored at all. If anything the uploads are not long enough!
  • @clandeszipp4564
What a blessing this channel is! I fall asleep to this. The chess game and his voice is so calming. No bullshit, no screaming like many other chess influencers (Cramling, Botezs etc.)
  • Thanks so much for playing those Dutch games! It’s my favorite opening right now, it was fun to watch you play them
  • @a3a2_m
very helpful to see the thought process behind the moves, thanks! :)

I've been over 1000 rated for as long as I can remember, I'm currently 1430 something. My highest is 1473 and I've been trying to get to 1500 for so long it feels like. It's been a wild up and down with great days and terrible days trying to climb.
  • @sigma8995
Great content. I hope you continue the progression.
  • @softcactus0147
Loving this series Nelson, keep it up! Would be interested to see you okay the KID or more of the KIA :)
