In this video, I wander around Gibraltar and meet the local people.

Gibraltar is a small British territory that borders southern Spain. It has belonged to Great Britain longer than the U.S. has been a country.

The locals are called "llanitos" and they speak a mixture of Spanish and English. This is one of the most bizarre, and yet fascinating places I've been to in a while. But the best thing? The people.

Even as a Brit we don't often see the detail of people living living their lives there. Just ten minutes of this video and it seems like a wonderful place with absolutely lovely people! Spanish chill and English sense of humour, what a great mix.

This is the first video I've seen where someone interviews the Gibraltarians - absolutely fascinating!

So cool to see people switching languages with ease like this
  • Greetings to all Gibraltarians from Portugal. 🇬🇮🤝🇵🇹 I love the laid back atmosphere and diversity of the place - there’s nowhere else on earth where Jews, Catholics, and Muslims and people from so many ethnicities get along so well. I love that you can go to the pub and have a nice beach close by. Wishing you all the best. Congratulations to the videographer as well for capturing the place so well.

I like when ellos dicen que hablan inglés with spanish accent 😂
  • I don't often comment on videos, but yours was brilliant. Thank you, really enjoyed it.
  • Wonderful video Ross, I loved it! So cool, I’ve gotta make sure I visit Gibraltar one day. Además, ya hablo los dos idiomas más usados allí. Que interesante es Gibraltar! Thank you!👌🏽👌🏽🇺🇸🇻🇪
  • Right now I'm doing a presentation to school about the variations of the english language and I got kind of curious about Gibraltar, because of its location despite being a part of United Kingdom but man... This was way more interesting than I thought! Because I also learn spanish, it was unbelievably interesting for me to listen to these guys just change languages in the middle of sentence. Thank you so much for this video!

Fascinating place. I'd never heard or knew about this territory. As an American of Latin American immigrants.......I'd never would've known there was British Spanglish out there. 😂

Hi I am from Gibraltar (born and bred from Gibraltarian father and Spanish mother), thank you for such a nice and simpatico (Spanish word) video, you have shown parts of my lovely homeland, and I thank you for that, but I especially enjoyed listening to our greatest assets, our people! (by the way interesting to know where you are from?)

Everyone seemed so pleasant and confident and went through struggle during the bad days. Very lovely, thank you for this insight

I am Galego, very proud of my Celt heritage. Love to hear and see people who are in touch with their heritage.
