Ever Heard of a Fabric Thrift Store?!?

Published 2024-07-27
Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back to the channel!

I recently visited Rochester, New York and found Sew Green, a 501c3 organization that serves as a thrift store for fabric and fiber crafts and teaches the community the art of sewing, knitting, crocheting and more!

I was lucky to meet with Jane Beck, who handles the education programs for Sew Green. We talked all about the organization and their efforts in the community.

They have great items for sale and at good prices! You can support their efforts by visiting them in person to shop or go online to donate at www.sewgreenrochester.org. And yes, I did go shopping after the video shoot ended!

See ya soon and stay crafty!

  • WOW! That we would all do our best to be what we can, not for us, but for others!
  • I've been sewing since the age of 4. Im 52 now. It's been a great love of mine since! I also crochet and knit. It's also therapeutic ❤❤❤❤
  • If only, there was a store like that here. I would have a blast hunting for batiks or Christmas fabric!

That was awesome on so many levels! Wish there was something like that near me. Also very cool to hear about Kawandi. I’ve been interested in that for awhile. Thanks Tim❤

My 10 and 8 year old boys LOVE that store! We are in Auburn NY for the summer. Come and down and check out Sew What, same premise with all volunteers too. Right in their back yard is Willard Chapel with Tiffany windows
  • What a fabulous idea on so many levels! I'll stop by on my next trip up to Rochester. (Go RIT Tigers!)
  • I have a craft shop that is similar if not the same not to far from me. It’s my home away from home. People are very nice. It’s a craft place of a jack of all trades. I sew, cross stitch, and much more. As I listen to this video, it is amazing.
  • What?. Rochester? I am from ROC City and going there next week! I will definitely got to Sew Green!

Would love to know how to start a store like that here in Oregon! Our little community could really use this.
