  • Imagine being a bystander watching this duel and just seeing these two go from playing duel monsters too straight up throwing hands

the missing card is clearly the biggest brick in his entire deck, Insect Queen.
  • “Name me a Joey card that would be a brick through the entire duel.” “Yes”
  • In the words of the Abridged series: Valon - "Joey just became the most badass character in this show!" Joey - ""GUNDAM RAGE!!!!!!"

Valon vs Joey just being a fist fight in an empty lot over a girl they both like is very relatable. I think Waking The Dragons is my favorite Yugioh arc of all time.
  • If they EVER bring out the Armor Cards, each one is gonna have to have one very important line of text on them: “If this card is on the Field, you cannot summon monsters from your Extra Deck.” Otherwise, this is gonna become the most degen Link Spam archetype ever to get printed to cardboard.

Joey has had some of the most physically demanding and strenuous duels in the franchise. He almost died against marik and in this duel he was pushed to the limit and after winning he went straight to duel Mai immediately afterwards and fainted after the duel barely started. Joey is a true underdog.

Valon's armor monsters were one big Saint Seiya reference, he even does one of the poses, and I love it. Wish it was an actual archetype.

Can we appreciate just how beautiful and clean Takahiro Kogami’s animation style was in the third part of this duel? The man never disappoints and criminal he didn’t stick around for season 5.
  • Imagine getting the armor cards and they read that if Oricalcos is on field you can just punch your opponent in the face when you attack.

16:55 Interesting how Valon, a duelist currently using the Seal of Orichalcos, is able to use a Legendary Dragon fusion card. Considering how Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight fizzled out the moment Yami activated the Seal of Orichalcos. I realize the loophole here is probably that the Rocket Hermos Cannon is a COPY of the original RHC, rather than the genuine article created by Hermos. Nonetheless, I think it would have been a fun twist if Valon's play here ended up fizzling out just like what happened to Yami.
  • Valon: Its all about attack. Also Valon: plays cards with guard and shield in them
  • The armor monsters were such a cool mechanic, we need them back
  • @bladersmosh
Wouldn’t it be hilarious that the armor monsters be announced to get printed in animation chronicle 2023 sometime after this video? It’s as if Konami follows you in more ways than one.
  • The best part of this duel was Joey and Valon actually getting to know one another. I just love it
  • This was less of a duel and more of a fist fight. That's why I loved it!
  • @Slayerthecrow
This season was ruled by the rule of cool "if looks cool, do it even if it doesn't make sense" and this duel was probably the best example of it considering some plays.

The biggest brick in Joey's starting hand could possibly be Gearfried the Swordmaster.
  • @nexus6538
I love the irony that the first monster Valon ever used to attack, “Big Bang Blow”, was ultimately the card that lead to his downfall in the end.

This duel was one of the hypest and one of the most rewatchable. Man I love waking the dragon
