The "headline" "I couldn't work with her!" Is click bait. Downtown doesn't need that to get our attention.

I really dislike these click bait headings. Trying to make people think it's one thing but it's another. I didn't fall at all for this click bait. And I won't watch anymore here.

I continued watching the show after Mathew's death. I think the makers did a great job in everyone's character development and worked in Dan's exit in the story beautifully. I wish he had stayed in for one more season so we could say a proper goodbye but apparently it would have taken up a lot of commitment and he understandably wanted to move on. Just finished another Downton Abbey marathon and the last movie as well (New era). Cried hard at the final scene with the Dowager's potrait looking in at her legacy/progeny. Beautifull. Now I wanna watch older Maggie Smith works.

Dan Stevens could have very well finished filming Downton Abbey and still take on the other roles. One thing doesn't exclude the other. E g. The series Downton Abbey stopped filming in 2015 and Beauty and Beast was filmed in 2017, also whatever roles he played in 2022 wouldn't have interfered. I think him as well as the actress who played Sybil were a bit impatient to take on other roles and made a foolish mistake by quitting Downton Abbey.

Hey Mr. Clickbait, you forgot to tell us who Stevens couldn't work with.

They couldn’t inherit Downton Abbey, not because the show was sexist, but because there was a law that women couldn’t inherit properties. This law is the same one that prevented Lizzy in Pride and Prejudice from inheriting her father’s house!

Matthew's death added a lot of development for the Mary character

I think Mathew was the love of Mary’s life. Although she found love later in life and married, I think Mathew was the one and only. I think everyone was shocked and disappointed when he died ( predicted it was going to happen when he was driving down the road with his head in the clouds) and I wished he’d at least stayed another season just when they were so happy!

Matthew survived the war but not peacetime, how tragic!

I just started watching Downton Abbey a few weeks ago and they just killed him off. I am so upset I don’t even know if I want to continue watching it. He was my very favorite of all. The reason why I kept watching after Sybil died. My heart is fictitiously broken. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Marrying a cousin, 3 times removed, is hardly icky. The gene pool is diverse enough for the family connection to be almost irrelevant. Dan left for the right reasons.

Mathew shouldn't have died, it changed everyone's life and we could never see him one day succeeding his father-in-law to become lord Grantham. I fell so sad for Mary and little George.

I threw my remote at my big screen TV when he died, swearing never to watch another episode…watched all the episodes 4 times🤷‍♀️🤣

It's his career to do with what he chooses. He doesn't OWE any of us anything, but I can't help but think that few of us will ever do work that is quite as successful and appreciated as the work that he was doing. I think if I was in his position I'd want to stick with that work for a few more years, as I wouldn't take for granted that such a situation would come again anytime soon.

I‘ll never forgive Matthew for dying. But it does make the story interesting. But no man could compare to him. Every man Mary was with was second choice. I love Dan Stevens in the German film „Ich bin dein Mensch“, where he plays a humanoid. He just a lovely actor.

Nope, it didn’t work for him actually. It’s a FACT that anytime they mention him in announcement, they have to write it as “Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens”. In other words, he hasn’t made a name for himself outside of the show.
