I spit my coffee everywhere when the giant airmailed you, the same thing happened to all of us the first time we played. They scale with player level but start at like 30 or something.

little fast travel tip if you go to carriages outside of stables it will let you teleport to any city you see on the world map but then you miss out on random encounters you see on the road walking, you can also just buy a horse. also you can set autosave to every 5-10 min in your settings just enter your hud menu to activate it(doesnt save while in combat)

If you wanna fight with magic, novice level spells can only get you so far. Try buying some apprentice level spells like firebolt or ice spike from Farengar. Since you have the apprentice destruction perk these spells should be a straight upgrade
