MGEHR Grooving/Parting Tool from Banggood - First Cuts on Emco CNC

Published 2016-12-02
I've been using a 1.6mm HSS parting blade on my Emco CNC lathe and not getting great results. For less than twenty bucks including shipping, the Banggood MGEHR-1010 holder with ten 2mm tips is a steal. Every time I've seen a demo of a small machine parting off, it has been aluminum or brass. I need to know if a product works, not just looks good. So I got a horrid piece of junk steel offcut that I'd had real problems with on a larger lathe. It just wouldn't cut cleanly and surface finish was terrible, no matter what I did. This video is only the third cut made by the tool, the first two were just as good but I messed up the video. What you see is what you get, 12.7mm dia, 360rpm and 0.055mm/rev feed.
