Let's take a moment to appreciate that arguably the best chess player in history is so nice to lower rated players and instead of dissing or making fun, he takes time for educational moments.

Is really good to see tha magnus takes this time for teaching users to improve their chess. Good for you magnus!!!

As a 50 year old cafe-patzer, I really enjoy the games MC plays against the sub 2k rated players. Allowing non-GM lines to unfold, while being very gracious in his comments and explanations.
  • It’s really wonderful that we live in a time where the world champion can guide us through all his decisions on the chess board. I’ve used so many of his comments to improve my game. Thank you Magnus!

you're a 1047 player, and you got to play a game against Magnus Carlsen. That's awesome

He may try to hide behind the nickname MagzyBogues but he will always be DrDrunkenstein at heart.
  • Thanks Magnus! I remember learning to play chess in the mid 90s at age 16, and because internet chess wasn't around yet, and having no access to good players, I read a few books, played for about two years, got to around 1400 strength and quit the game at 18, and did not play for 22 years after that. Im now 42 and because of all this amazing content from Magnus and other top players, the passion for the game is back and my level as made a great leap forward (2000ish blitz) in only one year of playing online and studying off youtube channels mostly. Kids today don

48:53 mates his 3000+ opponent with 0.2 second left and goes "holy smokes am I slow"... while still offering comments.
  • @adamsasso1
Magnus is computer-like in one moment, then completely human the next. Endlessly fascinating.

These videos are just too cool. I'm always blown away when I watch him do stuff like this

Some of us might wonder why, when down a piece and a pawn and having 0:17 on the clock vs. Magnus' 1:30, a 1950 player continues to try to push pieces around the board against the greatest player on the planet. Magnus doesn't. He says of his opponent at 23:48, 'He's fighting extremely well' and continues to provide commentary on the position. Magnus admires the guy for trying to fight! That's an eye-opener for me, given my occasional frustration on Lichess when an opponent is down two pieces and two pawns and continues trying to get a cheap one.

At 1:04:44 can't magnus play Qxh5+ and if Rxh5, Rxe7, Qxb2 and white is winning. Also if Qxh5+, Kg8, Rxe5 is mate in 8, because if Qxe5, Qxe5 and the bishop is pinned so magnus would be up a queen.
  • @orior1
    Am I missing something? in 1:04:39 doesn't magnus have Qxh5+? if Rxh5 - Rxe7.
  • That game against kingofthenil was one of the most exciting experiences that I had in YouTube!
  • @lindascoon4652
Starting watching on my phone. Just saw 20 ads lined up . Now that's just overkill.
  • thanks for streaming! after the games when you analyze give those arrows a go!
  • @XSFlanger
Content getting better and better. Thanks champ! :)
