.............................................................

We brought you our list of most unreliable cars, so now it's time to uncover the most reliable cars!

That's right, we've teamed up with Warrantywise again to find out which car is the best for you to choose if you're in the market for a new set of wheels.

One thing to consider though, just like with the least reliable cars, these are mostly older generation motors that saw their manufacturer warranty run out. Either way, are you surprised by any cars on this list? Let us know in the COMMENTS!

Disclaimer: average repair costs collated over a period between 2021 and 2022. Since the sample was selected, Warrantywise has seen a significant rise in the price of labour and parts, which will impact future repair costs.

You should do a video on : 1. The most reliable premium cars 2. The least reliable premium cars
  • As a self employed recovery truck operator for over25 years about 85% of my business came from German cars and Range rover. People often ask which cars are the most reliable, my advice was always the same "buy Japanese".(apart from Mazda RX8). Very few people took my advice, on the bright side I was always busy. Thank you Germany!!!

Being a technician and having years of experience with mechanical breakdown insurance (extended warranties) I can say that if the cost factor is removed the results would remain the same. I love German cars for their looks, sporty build, solid feel, etc. However when working on them you do notice that certain parts are not manufactured as robust as they were previously. Up to the mid 2000's German cars were bullet proof, but it started changing when they started going eco friendly. Trying to push more power out of smaller engines, using lighter materials. This started affecting the longevity of their parts. Forget about the gadgets and electronics. I'm taking about engine and transmission internals as well as suspension parts. Remember that not all German cars have tons of electronics. The VW Polo or Up, the A class, Audi A1 and 1 series did not make it on this list. The Auris for example has equal amount of tech as a mid spec Golf and even comes in hybrid. From the French cars on this list the Renault Kangoo is powered by a Nissan engine and the Peugeot is basically an Aygo. Japanese cars are generally built to last. If you see how Japcars are abused in some countries and yet they don't give up, you would throw in the towel on this argument. We not saying that Japanese is better to drive, it's just more reliable. Despite this if I had money to throw away I would definitely drive German cars just for the thrill. Like Matt mentioned in his previous videos like these, if you want to drive a car that's not boring, make sure that you know what can go wrong and take out an extended warranty if need be . If you haven't had any major issues with your car then that's great. 👍

Not surprised to find Honda Jazz at the top of the reliability list. I have never regretted buying one. Very reliable with cheap running costs.
  • 4:37 As soon as that BMW flashed on the screen I thought "this can't be right" 😂
  • @p.t.3726
Moment of silence for all the Audi, BMW, Mercedes cars at workshops...
  • Shows how Japanese is so Honest in making their cars. Built to last!!

After coming from two VW GTIs, a BMW 320d, then Audi A3 I went Mazda2 for cost reasons, a real step down (I thought). But after such a pleasurable experience and many road trips with this little runabout, it was a no brainer to upgrade to a Mazda CX-5 which has also been such a pleasure to drive.
  • @mozzy207
Gotta love the MX-5 for standing out amongst the sea of hatchbacks!
  • Can we have the same concept but for each category on its own? supercars, suvs, hatchbacks... I think that would make great content
  • @justskid
Without even watching this, I knew the Jazz would be top 3. My family has owned 3 in total and they are stupidly reliable. They are also great fun to throw about on twisty roads.
  • @amerjensen
I own Mazda 2 2010, it almost hit 300k and surprisingly never had any issues or major problem... It's just so amazing how this car can keep up this long!
  • @d333my
    The ‘Jazzy’ list if you don’t have much time: 15th Fiat 500L 14th Toyota RAV4 13th Toyota Yaris 12th Renault Kangoo 11th Honda Civic 10th Peugeot 107 9th Hyundai i20 8th Suzuki Alto 7th Kia Rio 6th Kia Cee’d 5th Toyota Aygo 4th Mazda MX5 3rd Toyota Auris 2nd Mazda 2 1st Honda Jazz
  • @ZOB4
I had a Honda Fit (the US name for the Jazz) and that was a great little car. Ran it for a really long time (almost to 150k miles) and sold it to a dealership who said it was still in great working shape. I never had any major mechanical issues with it the whole time I had it.
  • I got my first Fit (Jazz) new in 09 and it has close to 200k miles and got my second Fit new in 18. Still have them both, still love them both. Extremely fun, reliable and economical vehicles. As a mechanic, I greatly appreciate those qualities.
  • @BikeSausage
Well, our 18yo Jazz (bought new by us and passed around the family) would certainly support this rankling! It REFUSES TO DIE!
  • So basically: Inexpensive Japanese/South Korean econobox = reliable, trouble-free motoring.
  • @Miata822
I had a 2006 MX5, the first year of the NC design. In 5 years of cross-continent drives to take on challenging roads, track days, and of course my daily commute the only part that broke was an aftermarket sway bar that I installed myself. I did buy my fair share of tires and racy brake pads though. I miss that car
  • Pretty impressive for Hyundai/Kia to be such a competitor for reliability against Honda and Toyota. They are definitely making cars that the people will buy. The Genises line up is definitely stepping it up as well.
  • Matt, I'd love to see a video on the time taken for warranty repairs, my local Kia dealer has had my car since July 13 and still no prospect of receiving my car back!! Warranty now rejected for feeble reasons, you're "industry leading" 7 year warranty is a great selling point until you need it!!
