Iâm part of a few crochet/knitting groups on Facebook, and the AMOUNT of AI generated crocheted/knitted projects posted that make everyone so envious and disheartened in the comments⊠like is nothing sacred anymore? We have to make the grandmothers of the internet feel inferior?

Facebook is an abandoned mall with old people still walking around thinking itâs still open.
-
Bots interacting with bots in an oversaturation of AI accounts is called the dead Internet theory. When it was first proposed, it was seen mostly as a joke from a niche conspiracy community, but it's become much more real in recent time.
-
At first I thought I didn't care about geriatrics getting fooled by AI on Facebook, but then I remembered they vote.
-
1:09 Fun fact, that's a romance scammer. They target lonely elderly, pretend they are in love before finding an excuse to ask for money. There was a documentary about it somewhere
-
the pictures are devolving because the AIâs are just learning from eachother, theyâre absorbing data from themselves, itâs inbreeding for computers
-
The reason no one is in the comments saying it's fake is exactly the reason you pointed out: we don't want our feed full of this shit, and if we interact with it, it will come up again
-
i appreciated how the focus of your video was not âlook at these stupid people believing these obviously fake images, how gullible are they?!â and instead focusing on the polluting potential of ai generated engagement bait and the way we could be heading toward a dead internet scenario if this is left unchecked.
-
Honestly "two robots talking to each other thinking the other is a human" sounds like a really good writing prompt lmao
-
The thing is, Facebook also makes money off of this. They have no insentive to shut any of it down until advertisers realise all the engagement on their ads are bots.
-
I always get the children missing limbs or in breathing apparatuses holding signs saying "It's my birthday, please like" đ
-
Fun fact: in Italy technically there are fines for people that curse against God, specifically comparing God to animals. I wonder what that would mean for CRAB JESUS in Italian jurisdiction
-
I was explaining to my granny how this one image with a hidden Jesus face in it was AI, and she responded with âI am not sufficiently modernâ. I love her.
-
As a Christian I find these images disturbing. As a Christian Shrimp itâs nice to finally have representation. Good luck, Amen.
-
The funniest part of this genesis of viral AI images is that at first it looks like nromal old photoshopped likebait pictures; then you notice those specific AI indicators like fingers being morphed together, teeth being webbed, letters looking like eldritch horrors, and just general uncanniness in the backgrounds and nonfocused elements of the picture and suddenly its so clear how fake it is. What a time to be alive.
-
I find it hilarious that they are the ones that warned us about not trusting everything they hear but yet are the ones making up all the conspiracy theories
-
As a wildlife photographer, this is SO frustrating (and sometimes funny). Like AI photos of birds that don't exist or "baby peacocks". They fall for it hook, line, and sinker
-
My mom isnât even a boomer, but she is constantly showing me âamazing photographsâ and doesnât believe me when I say theyâre AI
-
It's unsettling how easily these people get tricked by the AI images on facebook. These people are literally driving vehicles and voting... The video AI is genuinely terrifying when you think about the future.
