After the Lap 3 pace break, there actually is a shortcut that might save time. After the first hairpin turn in Lap 3, you can actually drift off the track, hold down on the joystick and cut off a corner. Please try it.

In my experience with speed running, the hardest thing to do accurately is set the human limits. I have seen people completely shatter the barriers of what we thought was possible. The best guesses I have seen are TAS’s, and that can only be trusted in the simplest of games. All this to say that I will only ever doubt speedrunners on this track if there is a TAS more than 0.1 away(and even then I wouldn’t be completely certain)

It's more realistic for Big Blue to sub 1:00 as a retro track in the future lol

To put it simply, I feel like "never" is a pretty strong word. Don't get me wrong, the current time looks insane by today's standards, but like you said, players have gotten a lot better over the past few years. It seems logical to imagine they'll continue to get better as time goes on, and eventually, we'll see the 0:59 (even if it's far out of reach for now).

In my personal opinion, if a sub-1 minute is possible on this track, then it is currently out of human reach. "Currently" being the keyword. The world record on this track is extremely optimised and any timesave from now, unless some crazy update or strategy happens, is going to come from tighter lines or extra mini-turbo. This sadly isn't like with 150cc where we can use Waluigi or Roy to get a better time, their speed stat is too low and we already maximised the mini-turbo distribution on this track. I only have a 1:01.941 on this track and that feels barely out of reach for me, even when trying my hardest. Then again, I'm not a top Mario Kart player, so this is probably just a skill issue for me (I cannot do the low path ultra shortcut in S2 yet). Even if TAS were to be used on this track, I don't see much improvement there either no matter how dangerous the driving is, like on Yoshi Falls in Mario Kart Wii. A 1:00.1 might be as close as it can get. An idea that MIGHT help is to use a faster combo, which I can only imagine to be Cyber Slick (increased anti-grav over Crimson Slim), but that doesn't give enough mini-turbo to use for the shortcut in S1... as far as I know anyway. As you said, I would love to see someone prove us wrong. But I think it's completely impossible.

I kinda hate how everyone is "oh, people called this impossible, and that was proven wrong", but it is honestly pretty brave to make statements that can only be proven wrong. It should only be taken seriously if that person has 1. Actually tried doing it. 2. Is experienced about the subject. 3. Understands how the times of other people develop. And after getting 1:00,xx time, after talking how 1:01 was a huge deal, all of these boxes were checked of. Especially in contrast with with all the commenters who say it is actually possible (without trying), I can only have respect for thoughtful videos like this. The only substantion addition to this video would be a TAS, and those sadly don't exist (yet?), for this game.

Just improved my PB by .3, I definitely Need to learn that shortcut in Lap1. I’m hoping that there won’t be major improvements in the WR because I want to get it😅. Love the daily uploads, keep it up master alpha 😊

I hope we can someday get a TAS of this track so that we could confirm whether or not sub 1 is possible.
