I bought a Honda Monkey 2 years ago and have been learning to ride ever since. This week I hauled the Monkey out of the garage and took it on a little ride into the wilderness for the first time this season.

About me: I decided to jump on an opportunity to buy a school bus for $1000. After 2.5 years of building and a couple summers doing bus life, I sold the bus and began building a tiny house boat from scratch. My hope is that with a couple years of practice building under my belt, I can do a bit better of a job this time and build something that actually floats 🤞

When the road turns to dirt, that is when the fun starts. That little Honda Monkey is great for that type of riding.

Honestly, watching you extract the bike from the garage was way too entertaining!

Don't give up the bike. For they are freedom and you can get lost in that freedom when things get you down. I've been riding for 70 years and I still have my bikes. I ride every day on one of them. I'm also building two buses, for off grid from start and they are almost ready drive to know where. Happy riding Oh I'm 79
  • There is nothing wrong with just keeping the monkey for quickly escaping the daily grind and heading to a quiet spot for a personal picnic and some time to just be alone for a couple of hours. Also, you can still use the monkey for quick trips to the store to pick up small items instead of having to use the car. It's YOUR LIFE, Emma. Live it the way that makes you happy. 🎉 Looking forward to seeing your future adventures. Many blessings to ya! ❤😊

That’s why I’m always wearing gloves 😊 even in the summer (summer gloves). Great to see you riding again, we share the ‘little Honda’-passion! I ride a C125 Super Cub 😃

All work and no play makes Emma a dull girl.Awesome video Emma!

When I was your age I had an open-faced helmet. The worst is when bees or bugs smack into your mouth or up your nose. I switched to a modular (hinged) full face helmet. No more bug problem. I later had a self inflicted accident where I wound up in the guardrail. The full-face helmet saved me from head and face injuries.

Oh my god the fact that you didn't crash when you were being bitten over and over and over by a wasp is amazing!! Good job!

The garage bike extraction I could totally identify with. I really need to clean mine out and finish projects.

Owning a bike or car doesn't have to be a "need", and you don't have to work out where it fits in your life. Bike and car enthusiasts ride/drive for the enjoyment of it and/or enjoying your surroundings. They're definitely more than just a "tool" or "object" that we use to commute to work or go shopping. Enjoy your bike and the freedom of simply going for random rides
  • Emma, You and your videos are awesome! Keep rocking your life. You are truly beautiful inside and out.

I had a Honda CT90 that got me all the way through college while eliminating any parking problems or being late for class. I used to park right behind the building my first class was in. One summer I took a break and set a personal record playing golf every day for a month and hauled my golf clubs on that little motorcycle. Today, fifty years later, I just got back from a joy ride on my Honda XR150L. That bike will do everything I need it to whenever I want while getting a cazillion miles to a gallon of gas. I can relate to your pleasure with the Monkey.

Oh gosh! I've had several bee encounters while riding, not fun! Glad you maintained composure and also are not allergic. The cons of springtime riding are still trumped by the freedom, weather, and beauty of it. Ride safely, Emma!

You're an adventure motorcyclist now, that's when you spend your weekends cruising on anything from highways to dirt roads to trails. As somebody who also stores their motorcycle in a kind of hard to access sometimes place, I recommend learning how to do a kickstand pivot. With the monkey you could probably learn in 5 minutes. It's basically when you pull the motorcycle onto it's kickstand and then effectively balance it on there and spin it around. There's lots of youtube videos about it. It saves a lot of time and headaches.

We're always happy to see you hop on the Monkey's back and head for the woods.

It is a joy just watching you get into all these different situations. Keep up the good work. You lighten up my day.
