Fun little fact about gates opening in or out of your base: In medieval times gates were built so they would open inward, because when the enemy would attack, the soliders that would close the gate could be behind it and they wouldn't get shot. (Apologies for any mistake in my grammar, english is not my main language)
  • I love going for that pure wasteland appeal, too, when I make settlements. Something about making a pristine settlement never really fit right.
  • @mikeanders73
Learned a valuable lesson today. Do not leave a power core in your suit when you nap. A raider tried to make a run with it.

Building these little bases always makes me feel like I’m in fallout 3 building up big town
  • I'd recommend downloading "Scrap (not quite) Everything." It's a configurable addon to Scrap Everything that disables scrapping for certain structures. For example: The Red Rocket building.

Personally I build out Sanctuary hills 100%, then I do Red Rocket as the intersection point for all my caravans. Every other settlement is trade routed to Red Rocket, and red rocket is trade routed to Sanctuary. Means there’s almost always activity but I don’t have to worry about actually supporting a population in a tiny place like Red Rocket.

There is a mod that completely fixes up Red Rocket (and some other settlements) that prevents you from scrapping the whole building. Though still need to be careful since foundations and floors can still be scrapped.
  • @callum37
rarely ever see anyone building in red rocket but i think it’s one of the best if not THE best settlement

fantastic build, and I love that this is a reasonable base to have built in an actual playthough, and not effectively a 'creative mode' build. As for the mining helmet, the red light is one of my fav's, allegedly, red light doesnt ruin your night vision nearly as much as blue or white, so when doing astrophotography or just using a telescope people tend to prefer red lights. IDK if thats real or not, but for that reason, I like to use the red one on my char if they are sneaking about or are a night owl.

Fun video to randomly stumble onto. Love all the different music from different games.
  • You should look up the shortcut keys for 'Place everywhere.' One lets build out of the green zone limit without workshop closing, and the second one is surface snap, it lets you easily sink items into the ground like the cars near the gate

A little late, but there are actually railings under Wood Misc that you could maybe have used as half-walls. I use them a lot myself to help cover broken windows, add a little extra variation into walls, etc etc.

Castle crasher music. Was not expecting that. Fun little throw back
  • @alfafran6533
Really fun to watch. I'd love to watch a playthrough of just rebuilding the commonwealth on survival with that editing style.
  • I really like this video style idk what it is, it just scratches my brain
  • @dawidpawlak6330
Gates acutally usually open inwards, because in an emergency you want your people to be able to close it without going out of the walls
  • @xansolskjr8628
A very well-produced and edited video. Not to mention the clever settlement build. You gave me some ideas. And the music is very pleasant!
  • @ItsStrides
Castle crashers music deserves a like. Nice vid brotha!
  • @thetruebt7274
I really appreciate you having the mod list in the description, literally downloaded the map one because of this video
