Akagera National Park lies in the north-east of Rwanda and is run by African Parks. I stayed at two of their stunning camps, namely Ruzuzi Tented Lodge and Karenge Bush Camp.

Ruzizi Tented Lodge is located in the far south of Akagera National Park on the short of a large lake. It's tucked away in a thicket and has long wooden walkways between the tents. The game viewing area around it, it also dense, but has some scenic routes to drive along the water's edge.

Karenge Bush Camp is located in the far north of Akagera National Park and sits perched on top of a ridge, overlooking the Kirara Plains below. This area is a lot more open than around Ruzizi Tented Lodge and hence, game viewing is a bit easier.

I also did a few different activities in Akagera National Park, including bird watching, night drives, a boat cruise and visiting the local community centre just outside the main park entrance.

I hope you enjoy this video about Akagera National Park!
