    The most hard hitting part of this moment is the fact that she could have chosen anger again. She could have said “How dare you think that you can be a good father when you put mine in the dirt. This changes nothing about what you are.” And nobody could really argue with her. Thorfinn having a family now and building Vinland doesn’t take away the fact that he murdered Hild’s father. She could carry her hatred of Thorfinn for the rest of her life and it wouldn’t be unjustified. But despite that, she chose to forgive him. And that makes it so much more powerful. Choosing forgiveness over hate takes so much more strength than people realize.
