The only problem with this podcast is that episodes only last 1 hour

Doug is the type of guy to be on long vacation to avoid news

Doug is the type of guy to call his barber a hairdresser
-
Doug's the type of guy to imply that tax evasion is acceptable for the rich. 😂
-
Why do you need to pay sales tax in the US if you're selling your private car to a private individual? The tax has been paid already. The car was sold new at some point.
-
Doug is the type of guy to pay his fair share
-
Paying sales tax on a used car is insane
-
my week clearly goes so unbelievably fast because i watch this every friday like i watched the last episode 2 days ago

YES!! The WORLD is not setup to have more than one home. That is for sure!!! I have a couple of cars at my log cabin in the Smoky Mountains. They're tagged in TN and insured with Tennessee insurance. My four cars that I have in CT are tagged in CT and insured in CT, yet my driver's license is in CT. I also have a vehicle in Alabama with the same setup. The insurance has to be separate. I have State Farm, Geico and Progressive as insurers. It would be nice to just have them as one.

Filippo is in a hurry to just give up haha

Doug is the type of guy to register an electric car in Montana to avoid the smog check

So wait ... Doug is critical of someone who has moderate wealth and wants to dodge a large unfair tax bill for a luxury purchase, but defends an ultra-wealthy person who wants to dodge a large tax bill on an even more ostentatious luxury purchase?

In the UK you only pay sales tax on the first purchase of the car new (unless it is an import). This is great apart from the fact that our sales tax is 20%. You also don't pay capital gains tax on cars which seems to encourage people to use it as an investment. Additional context: I know it is VAT in the UK not sales tax in the US as it works slightly differently.

At around 58 minute mark the conversation about the Chrysler Pacifica hybrid was spot on. I just sold mine back to the dealer after three years one of them being at the dealer for a full year because they couldn’t find the problem. I did take the offer and kept ownership of the vehicle. I was going to hang onto it but on cold mornings, the windshield wipers would come on and not turn off until the car warmed up after about a 10 minute drive , this car still has my heart but not my mind. It is one of the greatest vehicles I have ever owned.

Being critical of someone trying to save $3000 seems petty Doug What LLC’s have you set up in regards to 37 million of cash infusion?
-
Fillipo, the descision to buy a Corvette is made with your heart, not your brain. You buy it because yo want it, not because it makes economic sense to do so.
-
I saw someone use the Montana Loophole, to register a kei truck in Pennsylvania (they can’t be registered here). I think that instance is good use of the Montana Loophole

To those of you with electronic dipsticks and want redundancy / a nanny check to make sure sensors aren't off.... My Porsche Cayenne Diesel had a plastic cap over where the the dipstick would go in the same engine in the Touareg version of the same car. Perhaps the Panamera Doug referenced and other cars have a similar workaround. It's worth looking into.

Love the pod. Hope the next one is even longer to discuss all the news that happened while Doug was on vacation.

I always find it interesting when people hold strong opinions on topics they have given very little thought to. The tax “evasion” topic has clearly not been thought of deeply by either of the three. Their argument basically boiled down to “… because big daddy government says so” and some dumb analogy about writing to your congress/senator and murdering people. 😂 There is no reasonable argument I have ever heard for paying tax again on a used vehicle. Every time a vehicle changes hands the government should get a piece for some unknown reason? 😳
