NM girl here! Hatch green chile is the best. Fun fact: when asked what kind of chile you want here they ask red, green or Christmas. Guess you’re a Christmas fan! ❤️💚

Can openers: I have been using the Swing Away can opener that my grandparents gave me for over 30 years. They used theirs for over 65 years!

I learned about tater tot casserole when I worked for a non-profit, which served lunch at low cost to needy people. I think I was 50 years old. I love it and use mixed vegetables and cheese. I'm from Wisconsin. We put cheese on everything.
  • My enchiladas are super easy. I put a can of enchilada sauce in the crockpot with a pork tenderloin, onion, and poblanos. Shred it, fill it, bake it. Easy peasy. I am diabetic so I eat the meat over cauliflower rice and the family has the tortillas. I don't think I have ever actually had tater tot casserole.

Pampered Chef can opener is the best! I've used mine for 20 years!! Yes, I said 20 years!! Mom of 5 boys here (6 with the hubby) sooo, I'm always cooking!!!
  • The one difference I do on my chicken and rice dish is I add dry onion soup mix. If I don’t have, I don’t make it. We love the flavor.
  • favorite can opener is kitchen aid. Have had mine for 16 years, still going strong.
  • I’m from southern New England over 60 and I’ve never had tater tot’s of any kind. And my first casserole that I made was probably around 35. My mom never made anything like that. I’m going to try the tater tot casserole. ❣️

I grew up on Tator Tot Hotdish here in Minnesota. It was basically just like yours, except with corn added. Now I add a large can of mushrooms, and I season the tots with garlic powder and smoked paprika. So many good versions out there I’ve tried. Taco, pizza, bacon cheeseburger, sloppy Joe, and even a breakfast version. All so good and easy! Perfect for a crowd too. Great video once again, thank you! ❤️
  • Yeah!!! A cooking video from Christine. I will try the meatball and chicken parm casseroles for sure.
  • Im 60 and ive never had tater tot casserole.. looks good! 😮
  • I am with you on THE MORE CHEESE IS BETTER !!! Thanks for the Casserole dishes because I have become BRAIN dead with cooking meals lately.
  • @BettyHorn
I love the swing away manual can opener. They can almost be used as an heirloom like cast iron.
  • I love the crank handle that’s long. It’s called a swing away easy crank can opener. But if you search long handle can opener you can find it! Or a heavy duty can opener!

We LOVE tater tot casserole, we've even taken it on vacation with us! We add a can of corn and frozen peas. Always season your tater tots on top - seasoned salt, Mrs. Dash, etc.

The only thing you need to remember to make a good casserole is mom's rule of 5. And that is: one meat, one carb, one vegetable, one soup and one cheese. Cook the meat, mix all together, bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 😊

I like to see other people’s variations of tater tot hot dish. Yes, hot dish. I’m from Minnesota! I make mine with hamburger, cream of mushroom soup, mixed vegetables, a little beef bouillon, and tater tots. I’ve never put cheese in mine although I know many people do.
