Mike sounds like he could be a private investigator in a 1950s film noir. All we’re missing is the leggy blonde walking in.

Mike needs to do car commercials or discovery channel 😂😂

Only real wrestling fans would know that Mike Chioda is considered the best referee from WWF/WWE. He worked some of the best matches and made some of the best calls when any wrestler nearly/got injured.

Man’s a legend. HOF Referee. But 200k for a 8 minute match If that? Jesus.

Really happy Mike clarified the Goldberg side of the situation here (while simultaneously shutting up the marks). It was obviously written in ink that Bill’s concussion came from the ring post spot and not from his entrance.
  • I don't think I've ever been more surprised about the difference between what I imagined someone's voice to sound ike and what it actually sounds like than the first time I heard Mike Chioda speak. I watched this dude on my TV for over a decade assuming he had the voice of a corporate pipsqeak like Michael Cole (with all due respect), only to hear him on a podcast a few years ago suddenly sensually caressing my earholes with the smooth silky bass of a baritone that would give Barry White a run for his money. I think I even had to double check to make sure I was listening to the right episode lol

Finally someone close to it who isn't just blaming Goldberg. It was that post spot that ruined it. The fact that the gorilla position let this go on says volumes about WWE management at that time. Since Taker was going over anyway, they should've pivoted more quickly to an improvised finish. Absolutely broke my heart too. These were arguably my two favorite wrestlers growing up. They could've had a great match.

This is the first time in my life that I have ever heard Mike Chioda speak and I can safely say that I did not expect him to sound like that.

Two legends. All respect, allowed to have a bad match especially when you’re hurt

Mike you were always one of my favorite refs growing up. We all appreciate you man

It's great to hear a proper take on this from someone who knows and not internet buffoons. No one takes into account the travel, the heat, the time difference, the schedule, all topped off by their age. And The Undertaker was just as bad as Goldberg that night yet he didn't even have a concussion. Speaks volumes about the wrestling world... Glad Goldberg got some defence here.

This was perfect timing because I noticed some of the wrestlers not moving as efficiently as they normally do at Crown Jewel and I guessed that it was jet lag/lack of sleep/time zone change…. This confirms it for me
