SONY: 177 Countries Can't "Manage Democracy" Anymore

In a bold move about 12 hours ago, SONY decided it was going to ban an absurd number of steam accounts from being able to purchase Helldivers 2 in the wake of requiring everyone playing Helldivers 2 to have a PSN account. Due to which, now 177 countries that were at one time able to purchase and play Helldivers 2, won't be able to manage democracy anymore.

Arrowhead is actively telling people to refund and review bomb the game in order to "make your voices heard" by SONY. Maybe with enough pressure, yall can swing this thing the other way. Who knows.
  • I've got plenty of PS ported games on my Steam account. Both Horizons, Days Gone, God of War, Spider-Man, Ratchet and Clank, but Helldivers 2 is the only one trying to FORCe me to create a PSN account.

As a Fiji based Helldiver, I really don't want to refund this game. I have over 100+ hours invested and my squad and I dive every night... up until today 🥺 Thank you Arrowhead for the chance to spread democracy... 🖕🏽💀🖕🏽 SONY.

Tolerating PSN account mandate is just the first step in mandating a PS+ subscription.
  • We lost soo many brothers and sisters . They will not be able to dive with us. Why should we dive if there is no democracy.
  • @Duvstep910
They also pulled a tarkov and changed their website from 'optional' to 'required'
  • Was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING while it lasted. HELLDIVERS 2 was probably one of the best games ever. Was an honor to serve with you all!

They have to make up the numbers they're losing over the Stellar Blade fiasco. People are dropping their PSN accounts due to the censorship, so HD2 players are paying the price now.
  • @jussi8111
corporate greed trying to ruin another pure game. how suprising

Onepeg, your news always keep me up to date. Thanks for that, from Tarkov to Helldivers, I really appreciate it all laid out like this :) ❤

In other good gaming news, Activision has announced they will now be releasing a new Call of Duty every 6 months at full price, and Warzone players will be retroactively be charged for playing.
  • Well, it looks like we have our answer as to what Sony is gonna do. What's their slogan, again? Oh, that's right. "For the players". Well, just the ones they can force onto their console plantation.
  • @BloodDraco122
I never even got that "Scan this QR" code thing when I got the game and like you said, everytime I've started up HD2, it's never popped up at all
  • If account linking was always going to be mandatory, then why was the game ever even allowed to be sold in those countries in the first place? That's the biggest question I've taken away from this whole situation. And I don't think AH should be let off the hook so easily on this, either. Why did the devs go to the trouble of localizing the game in all of those different languages, if it would end up being not available for purchase in those places, if linking was intended to be mandatory? The reality of the situation is that AH HAD TO HAVE KNOWN that forced account linking was coming and didn't push back nearly as hard as they should have against Sony, and also did their players dirty by making linking "optional" and not telling us it wasn't going to stay optional. I really hope that players in affected regions can sue Sony over this, because Sony straight up defrauded them.

Why? They lost PSN accounts from Stellar Blade controversy. And now they thought after taking an arrow into the knee, we might take an arrow into the head.

I honestly believe the rug pulling from the unsupported countries is a move on steams part to avoid the income legal actions that would have likely hit them from selling a game that would be unplayable in the countries.
