GI Joe Classified | Doc | Action Figure Review

Published 2024-06-27
Welcome to the latest MoDXtra: Games & Collectibles action figure review. In this instalment we're taking a look at the new G.I. Classified Series Doc Figure.

Another function in the Classified line up has arrived - we've got a medic folks! Doc is undoubtedly an iconic GI Joe character and I for one anticipated this figure greatly. The type of action figure storytelling you can do with Doc is a little different, with an interesting accessory selection to open up a world of possibility when you are posing up your figs. Think on the exciting scenes you can make with your GI Joe Classifieds now with Doc zipping around patching up Joes after a particularly gruesome encounter with Cobra forces! It's exciting - hopefully he'll live up to the promise.

This is a THOROUGH review. It will involve a look at the packaging & "peg presence" of Doc, an overall view of the figure, and then some detailed thoughts around his aesthetic, articulation, and accessories. (My action figure review Triple A's LOL).

Its exciting to have a continued focus on GI Joe Classified on the channel, and its my hope that if you've been thinking of picking up a Doc of your own its my hope this thorough review will help you make your decision.

YO JOE!

...back in the early wants, I was so disgruntled thinking that he had been neglected in the line. Them when he was announced, i was highly excited. Now I'm anticipating his delivery. Very thorough review. Much appreciated.

I'm really looking forward to Doc. He holds a special place in GI Joe to me because the original was the very first GI Joe I ever got as a kid. I like that he's a modern take on the classic design and I will have to play about with the pouches to get a configuration that I like.
  • They put the stretcher feet and sculpted buckles on the wrong side. The stretcher collapses if a figure is placed on it. I they put the feet and buckles on the other side, the stretcher would not bend and the peg would hold a figure on the stretcher.
  • @ghremixofficial
Absolutely love your character skillset explanations. Hasbro should make these the official one :D
  • I wasn't hugely anticipating Doc, but this figure looks very solid. I like all of the gear on his vest. He's a walking hospital. Classified doesn't sell out very fast on BBTS, so I'm happy to pick him up some time in future, rather than rush to preorder him.

So yeah broke the ‘code’ and watched this. So excited for Doc. He was an early Action Force figure for me. Agree with you on the load out. It does look quite cumbersome on him. Still can’t wait for him though.

Doc is a must have. A great looking figure. I agree maybe the vest could have been different. Overall he's a good figure.
  • @Snowmation
Taken as a whole I think Doc turned out great and is a must own. My only issue with the figure is the vest. I think at this scale the addon pouches don't really make sense as they just end up being a bit too bulky and if you don't use them you have these huge peg holes in the vest. I wish the vest was removable or they gave him a vest from another figure that didn't have the removable pouches feature. But with that being said, overall he's still a great figure...can't wait to get mine!

This figure is definitely greater than the sum of his parts. But the one thing that I find silly/annoying is that the Joe team at Hasbro didn’t bother to change the naval themed belt buckle on the diaper piece. Unless Doc was a member of the Navy, which I don’t think he is. I’m wondering if the other diaper pieces didn’t look right or they just thought the second belt would cover the oversight and said “Nah, it’ll be fine” and called it a day.
  • I got a noticed from Hasbro today june 27 2024 stating that my Doc wont be delivered until September 😕 Great unboxing and review video Chris 👍
  • @bobbywold2311
That's awesome you got your Doc. Hasbro sent me the email saying mines pushed back until September
  • @mathrik
Great review, Chris. You touched on some roleplay/posing questions I've had as well. I'm kind of tempted to pick up two and swap a head in. Do you think the 60th anniversary infantry head would fit comfortably? That would give me 2 medics to carry around the stretcher. I will also be strongly tempted to take off that vest. I did that to one of my Python Patrol TeleVipers, and he looked a lot better imo. Guess we'll see if I can find this guy in stores or have to wait for September when Pulse is scheduled to ship mine.
  • @collegerebel
I'm waiting on the retro version that Hasbro's very likely going to make .
  • 2:08 Sorry to be that guy, but the word is 'Asterisk'. Asterix is a comic character whose name is a pun.
