Before simply breaking off when you get stuck while on with a fish, try releasing some line and often times the fish will release the snag.
-
Thanks Roger, I've been learning a lot with excitement. I'm getting confident I would be catching something everytime I go out fishing.

Great fishing , its sometimes hard here on island as fishing is 24/7 all year long, fish are very, very clever here, so fishermen have be more extra clever to catch anything, I see you already using all the skills we using here on island, and still here it is very hard to catch fish if the sun is up... early morning and getting dark is only good chance to catch fish, but sometimes if there's storms, it brings huge big tree logs and huts from Indonesia and good untrained fishes, which our local fishers will deplete in a week, as mentioned 24/7 is fishing here with no off limits and restrictions restrictions regulations

Loving the rock fishing series. A suggestion would be teaching people how to berley effectively and not over berley. I see too many fishermen feeding fish these days instead of liberally berleying and creating an attractive scent in the water.
-
Good show Roger , I fish for snapper off rocks in New Zealand , to avoid fish swallowing the hook , I use circle hooks , that hook the fish in the corner of the mouth, 80%of the time. Saves a lot of undersized fish .

May I suggest that in you're instructional vid on rock fishing you suggest that people spend a few minutes observing the prospective fishing locations to monitor wave action and when fishing to have an escape route incase of rogue waves. footwear and cleats need to be worn along with a life jacket. fishing with a mate is a good idea and having a good length of rope at hand may come into its own should someone fall or be washed in. the importance of leaving the rock shelf clean/or cleaner than found, especially remove discarded line/hooks etc. just a thought - great vids - love watching you. I've picked up lots of hints.
-
Definitely keen to see one about rock fishing safety. Particularly about the different types of pfd's you'd recommend. Cheers for the quality vids
-
Another great video, Roger! It would be great to see a video of how to make your long distance casting for snapper rigs!
-
What a great session and some great instruction regarding rock fishing and safety.
-
Gβday Roger would you ever consider doing a luderick video, or even a catch clean and cook

A big hello from South Africa. I'm 70 and only stated to fish about three years ago. No sea fish but manage to land a few Bass. I just love watching you videos. Regards, Gerhard
-
You mentioned something that I always look for. I'll jump on google earth before I go and try and find a spot where theres weed beds reef and sand areas. If there's no sand I'll take the sinker off and float the baits down unweighted.
-
Thank you Roger for a awesome video and the awareness of safety fishing on rocks, loved every minute of itπ

Floating bait with one circle hook on a mono leader tied to braided line with a fg knot. Let the line float on the water whilst keeping the rod tip low to the waterline. Keep the bail open and with one hand holding the line between your thumb and index finger. When there's a customer, let him run off with the bait and then flick over the bail and slowly raise the rod tip. For the method I prefer mono leader over fluro because you're not running a shock leader, the mono will stretch a bit more than fluro to act similarly on smaller fish
