Can The WEAKEST Thruster Break The Sound Barrier?

Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today I want to try to break the sound barrier with the weakest thruster in the game, the rocket thruster. With only 60 power, is it going to have what it takes to bring a vehicle to super sonic speeds? How many will be needed?

About Trailmakers:

In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.

Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!

Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.

Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.

Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.

Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Different idea: What's the fastest acceleration to the sound barrier ever? Use any means necessary to find that lowest 0-1236KPH number.
  • @94ccf
Since the space map just teleports you from one side to the other when you hit the edge. The devs really need to do the same thing with the test map.
  • @9LiveEmpire
should ask for the test map to be able to loop like the space map

If it’s possible to hit supersonic with something then scrapman will do it

1 set of wedges facing up and 1 set facing down at the front of your vehicle does cancel out the vertical air resistance forces, but it only cancels out perfectly if they are on the same X Z axis. The way you placed them on your vehicle should provide slighty more downforce on the front and more lift at the back

There’s actually a LOT of different types of propulsion scrapman never tried to see the MINIMUM he could use to break the barrier. He never tried the dragon engine, dragon jet, raw jet, bulldawg engine, or outboard engine
  • For the confusion of the seat sizes, you are probably mistaking the seats for scrap mechanic since they are four or three wide for the functional seats.

GG. For the engines, have one wheel in the back to push it but have skies for the front. What Trailmakers need is a 2-to-1 centring block. One end is 2 wide, the opposite is 1 wide with wedges to add aerodynamics to it.

remember trailing aero dynamics are a thing in the air as well once you add them you will notice it, they are just more noticeable in water.
  • @RamadaArtist
Clearly the ultimate challenge is to find out what is the build that will have the least amount of power cores while still breaking the sound barrier.
  • @MrMattkid
I've noticed you could shave a little bit of weight from your final design. The gyro stabilizer can replace some of the frame pieces. Idk how much speed you'll gain. Also, you can move the thruster, so they are above the rear ski instead of in front of it and make it a little shorter, and that might save some more weight. Again, I have no clue if you'll gain enough speed.
  • @AlrenClan
Now try to go as slow as possible with the strongest thruster, but still moving, just very slowly.
  • Scrapman's character thanking Scrapman that at least he added aerodynamic shield so that the face doesn't turn into jello

I want to see a combined super sonic challenge where you have to use an equal amount of two different sources of thrust.🎉😂
  • @tomkat1731
I want to see a multiplayer challenge where you only use that tiny thruster
  • @patrickreddy914
Can we just appreciate for a minute how he set up in one corner and perfectly hit the other corner, which is a massive distance away. That is amazing impressive

you should try to break the sound barrier with props again b/c the hitbox is smaller as of the airborne update
  • @dragongamerandart
ScrapMan, your quest to break the sound barrier with all forms of propulsion will not be complete until you use Bulldog Engines, RAW Engines, Helicopter Engine(preferably v2, but if v1 works better, go for it!), Power Couplers, Bulldog Thrusters, RAW Thrusters, Gyros, Hover Blocks, both Propellers, Spinning Servo, Rotating Servo, Steering Hinge, Underwater Propeller (because the physics have changed a lot since early access and you may have a better chance), and the recoil from the Large Cannon. Yes. In order to receive the title of the Sound Breaker of Trailmakers, you must use all sources of movement, even if not originally intentional (looking at you, power couplers)
