Some tips: 1: Hold accelerate right after 2 on the countdown to get a speed boost at the beginning. 2: the little hop you can do is actually the drift button. Hold that around corners and you’ll get speed boosts. 3: Either shake the controller or tap the drift button when going off ramps to get a speed boost. 4: you can throw items forward or backward by what direction you have the joystick in, and hold them behind you by holding the item button. 5: in the video you have both auto-accelerate and smart steering turned on. They make your kart go forward automatically, and prevent you from falling off the track. I’d suggest turning them off, as it makes the gameplay a lot better, even though it’s harder.

If you tap R as you go over a jump you will indeed get a speed boost. Hold down and hit L to throw an item backwards, or up and L to throw a banana forwards. Hold L to trail an item behind you, which provides a shield from incoming red and green shells. Lastly, disable auto-steer 😂

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a very great game. And with DLC tracks coming out every now & then, there are much more to come

Those “zappy things” at Sunshine Airport are actually good: they give you a little speed boost on anti-gravity sections. They appear in other courses, too.

There’s also the booster course pass with 48 additional tracks. You really should play on it channel as well. Also here’s some tips: To boost at the start you hold A at the 2 at the start, on ramps press R to do a trick and give you a speed boost, the coins allow you to unlock more car parts, to drift you hold R and joystick to turn, and the items that can dodge a blue shell are super horn, Mushroom, Boo, golden mushroom, super star and bullet bills.

I was quite surprised to hear that MKDD was the last Mario Kart game you played, so I think you'll be excited to see some of the retro courses they've got in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Also, you were right in that the characters and parts all have different stats! You can see the exact stats in the vehicle customization menu via pressing + or -.

Tip about the horn you were holding: it's called the super horn, and it can stop most items from hitting you, including the blue shell (one of the best items in the game) Also, there's something called lucky 8, which is a variety of items, though it is rare (I'll let you see what items it has).

Heres some tips: Coins - Coins have 2 significant roles. The first role is to obtain more items to race with (karts/bikes, wheels, gliders). The second role is to increase ur speed during the race. You can get a maximum of 10 coins each race. As you gain coins your top speed increases. So someone with 0 coins is significantly slower than someone with 10 coins. Get as many coins as you can!
