A day in a life of an English teacher in China follows Cassandra on her journey to work. Cassandra has been teaching English in China for over two years in Shanghai.

Like most teachers in China, Cassandra has settled into regular teaching schedule, enjoys eating local food on the way to work and uses public transport.

However, as an English teacher in China, no two days are the same. Each day is an opportunity to teach a new class, share new experiences and even enjoy some time with friends after work.

  • Hi there, I have completed the TEFL course and I have a diploma in graphic design and I am studying towards the advanced diploma in graphic design and looking for a teaching job overseas. I am from South Africa and currently reside in Cape Town.
  • so really she only worked about three hours a day? started about 4:45 and quit about 8:00 pm, so about three hours of work?? is that typical? even though she started at 2p.m. allright about six hours total. Is that true? does she get paid for 8 hours or only on the clock for actual time? is there a set salary no matter how long a day she teaches? just curious as to how this works.
