It's hard to believe that it's been five years since Toronto won that first NBA Championship. 2019 felt so long ago and I remember how special that team was all season. They haven't been the same since Kawhi left and the direction for this team felt lost at times. Losing Fred, Pascal, OG, Lowry and Powell within three years hurts but I'm hoping with this new young team and with it being a rebuild team, they will have a direction to the future.

That team was special man after 5 years of playoff disappointment in the mid to late 2010s, they finally broke through. Sad that team collapse after that.
  • @AliMisfer
When I saw that siakam sign a max deal I wanted to tear up. He was one of my favourite players to watch and it’s sad to see everyone go, but I’m ready to see this new team.
  • @ReyesJansen
the fact that they were still 2nd in the East AFTER losing kawhi.. makes me think how many more could they have really won had he stayed 😢

As someone who watched the Raptors in the 2000s, it's just nice that we had a team good enough to collapse. :P Though in all seriousness, I'm overall pretty positive about the rebuild. The fact they already have three main players to build around and a good front office, I think the Raptors will be back in the mix soon enough.

As a Raptors fan, I really hate this downfall. Raptors lost Kawhi, then Gasol, then Ibaka, then Lowry, then Vanvleet, then OG, and now Siakam. I'm completely devestead that the entire the Raptors squad are gone.

They’ll be back sooner than we think. The trades made and the development of Scottie and RJ will be better than we expected

2019 will be officially 5 years the first NBA Championship for the Toronto Raptors, also Chris Boucher was the only player on the roster for this year
  • Feel sad that the Raptors championship squad were all gone😢. But in the other side, it's feeling excited to see the new era Raptors with Scottie Barnes as the next franchise player

I knew this was eventually gonna be a video Siakam not showing up in the 2020 Boston series really screwed things up
  • @breakdown212
Signing Gasol over Ibaka and not trading van fleet at the deadline when we had him was Masai’s biggest mistakes…
  • It’s very sad but thank you for your service to all the Raptors and thanks, and for the championship Toronto will always be your home Lots and lots and lots of love from Canada. Also love your videos man. ❤️

This first championship in 2019 was like yesterday i miss those days kinda nostalgia hope they rebuild successfully with scottie b rj and quickley

I wouldn't say they collapsed...they finished 53-19 and 2nd place in the league in 2020, the very next year after the title. It's normal for title teams to take down turn in the years following, its the natural cycle of the NBA, it's only been 5 years, the Raptors rebuilding isn't surprising in 2024.
  • @HAA0603
As a die hard Raptors fan it’s really sad seeing all of my favourite players go and seeing the good times of the team fading away but hopefully this rebuild will go in the right direction and we can maybe become a contender in the future

The city was on fire at the parade in 2019. The off season was crazy too. The media in Toronto constantly discuss if Kawhi would stay. I had random people asking my opinion on Kawhi. The team after the year Kawhi left was very competitive. It’s been downhill since then. Masai had the assets for a rebuild but waited too long. Now the Raptors have no choice but to go young. Hoping for the best. 🇨🇦🫡

The only last playoffs they ever played with the pascal era is on the 2021-22 Season , with Scottie Barnes . I wish they would stay with the same core last time , until the influence on playing in Los Angeles , can never be denied . A curse to behold with the LA lifestyle.
