Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are doing a co-op challenge where we try catch a plane with a plane! Unlike the challenge where we landed on a flying aircraft carrier, this time the small plane must approach from the bottom, and be caught in a cradle mechanism that holds it in place!

About Trailmakers:

In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.

Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!

Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.

Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.

Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.

Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

You guys should do these docking challenges in the high seas map. Just to see how the weather affects everything
  • @Matloma
You should try making it so you have to fly inside the cargo plane and land on a small runway inside, similar to how the carrier has runways inside as well.

I love how Yzuei replicated the biggest plane in the world for this challenge, and he actually did a really good job

Idea for the next challenge - A two part plane. Think of the way the Enterprise could split into saucer and drive section, see if you can do that Scrap. Design a plane, have a friend design another plane that shares a common connection point. Take off individually at first, then combine in the air and try to land the combined plane and keep it in once piece. Then take off combined, separate in the air and land as individual craft. Then for the third round, just see how many times you can combine and split without smashing eachother to pieces ;) Could be a pretty funny video, since the two planes are very unlikley to play nice once they're connected, making it hard to fly since you'd both have to try to cooperate to get anything done. I will stipulate though, you can not use the capture method you've been using! You'll have to come up with a new way to dock the two aircraft.

Bro made an A-225 for his cargo plane lol it’s cool
  • @mccabecompositions
Even though she’s been destroyed, it’s builds like these that keep the legacy of the Antonov an-225 alive

What if you jumped a submarine out of the water, into a catching bay on a plane? Closing some hooks fast enough might be rather difficult, but if the plane had a platform on the interior and a door through which the sub could jump through, you could have it rest inside the fuselage whilst the plane flies you about, before opening the door again and possibly tilting the resting platform down so that the sub can slide out and land back into the water.

Actual cargo door would be sweet, finding a way to simulate a mid air refuel also would be rad. And I agree doing these on the high seas map would add alot of interesting challenge

5:43 That landing was intact, butter, AND the best landing I’ve ever seen in a semi-realistic game
  • @cigibwarin
An-225, a true beauty, glad to see it remembered
  • @mexle_96
by the looks of it Yzuei made the AN-225 wich carried the Buran space craft IRL (similar to the space shuttle but soviet) on its back meaning it would have made sense if you landed on the cargo planes back so you could land with the little plane attached
  • @real_dickens
Catching little plain, joining Yzuei in his cockpit, doing a full loop, switching planes in the air and extracting each other.
  • in case anyone was wondering, Yzuei recreated the Antonov 225, which was originally developed to carry the Russian Buran space shuttle
  • @KazakhGuy.
Red bull: ok let's do it irl just to advertise our drink
  • @arjunamirzada3688
If you have a problem with the plane nosing up or down just use a trim in for the elevator if its just some little to medium nosing down, but if its heavily nosing down then its good to redesign it, so you can save time.
