Chip and Joanna. Drew and Jonathan. David and Hilary. If you're a big fan of Discovery's home improvement and real estate network HGTV, you know these names very well, and you've likely spent dozens of hours watching these telegenic hosts help homeowners craft their dream homes. But despite appearances to the contrary, some HGTV hosts and the teams behind the shows they front have (allegedly) been at the center of some pretty serious scandals. From a property dispute at the Magnolia Market to a police helicopter outside Tarek and Christina El Moussa's house, here are some of HGTV's biggest scandals ever.

I stopped watching HGTV years ago when it stopped being about homes and gardens and turned into nothing but flipping houses...that got old real fast.

I liked HGTV back when the show hosts showed the audience how to do things themselves for less money with great results. Now it seems to be about rich people buying expensive homes or paying top dollar for renovations that seem to be affordable only to the wealthy. Rich people getting richer. As usual.

Moral of the Story... Don't trust Hollywood 🤣🔥

Sadly half of the renovations done on HGTV shows are nightmare renovations because they hire subcontractors and half of them are crap they hide all the screws up and uncompleted projects in the reveals they don't even come back to fix anything HGTV just refers them to the subcontractors that did the crappie work in the first place and they don't come back because they have already been payed by HGTV

HGTV has gotten old with every single "designer" focusing on a kitchen island, open concept, hardwood flooring, removal of walls, no brown furniture, laundry room, en suite bathroom----and how many people can afford all these changes? I know I can't, and I'm tired of seeing these so-called celeb designers dictate major scale changes, forcing their sheep-like homeowners to either like the changes or lump them.

HGTV “stars” are messier than some of the houses they renovate. Some are overused and overexposed (enough with the Property Brothers shows already), Chip and Joanna fans are welcome to them on their own network where they can cherry pick who they want to work with and most of the shows aren’t as entertaining as they think they are. Less of them and more Clutterbug from Hot Mess House!

I really love to watch The Gaines, but when they made it a pay more channel, I refuse to subscribe.
  • HGTV should be called HOUSE. Its all just buy a house, flip a house, demolish a house, decorate a house, build a house, remodel a house. Good grief . I used to have to make myself turn the t.v. off because HGTV had so many good shows but not now. I never watch any of it now.
  • After renovation on the " Property Brothers" the clients keep all furnishings in the house. On " Fixer Upper " the clients keep nothing!!!! After filming Johanna gives the clients an itemized package of everything to purchase or they're left with an empty house or possibly their old furniture if they have it stored away. Even on "Love it or List it" the clients keep the furniture. Fixer Upper is a furniture scam!!!!! LMAO😂😂😂

I love HGTV! Sure beats listening to negative news and politics all day!
  • When integrity is no longer the goal, you end up with show after show not worth watching. Disappointing and lost opportunity.

HGTV is not anything to do with GARDENING - WHERE did the G go- how many flipping shows can you watch- really not as good as it first was in 83
  • @tessax
Does anyone actually notice the houses Drew and Jonathan renovate are already nice? They should renovate my house, they’ll have a mental breakdown bc it’s a shit hole lol 😂
  • @lindaweber3083
I lost interest in the network when Salvage Dawgs was cancelled.
  • I still kind of enjoy hgtv, mainly to make fun of the ridiculously priced renovation ideas. However waiting in the doctors office I’m interested in that houses with history 😮
