  • Hey, speech therapist here. Sorry, but this advice is incorrect. Support is NOT squeezing in your belly while you sing/speak. This will activate the super glottal structures to narrow inwards, raising pressure and this can lead to a functional voice disorders. Support is your breathing muscles responsible for inhaling holding a certain tention while exhaling (singing) so you have breath controle and don't push out too much air at once. Basically keeping your torso/ribs wide while exhaling/singing. Please don't squeeze your belly inwards while singing. It can ruin your voice.

many confused about what it is.. core support is not taking a big breath hold and squeeze ❌ core support is by relaxing your diaphragm then taking a big breath(imagine being full/bloated after eating) and release the air slowly by adding core muscle without being over tightening your abs ✅

Those kind of advices made me think that pushing hard the air was the right thing to improve singing but it's not. I'm not saying this advise is bad, I just want to say that can be misundertood.
  • FINALLY!!!! SOMEONE SHOWS THIS I NEVER COULD UNDERSTAND THIS DIAPHRAGM SUPPORT STUFF WAS. Thank you thank you thank you for this this will help me GREATLY!!! 🙏🙏

I worked on this in the car today too!! If you see my other message this will make sense 😁 While doing it, I was wondering how singers do this, but still look amazing...they don't look like they're popped out...though I'm a big girl so my pop is gonna be bigger 😊 but a great explanation :)

In theater, this technique is part of what is called “the voice”. Basically, it is how you project without yelling. Another tip: Fill the bottom of the lungs, which is what she is doing. That means that you breathe and your stomach expands, not your chest. This also helps to calm yourself. I love your singing so much, and I aspire to become this experienced with singing!
  • Wow thank Goodness I subscribed on the first vid of yours. This is my second one watched. I love how you give simple and to the point advice. Great Job!!!!!

please show us how to breathe!! i don't know why but bc of my posture problems I cant seem to support my core. core strength will affect core support too while breathing right?
  • @teitei9536
Thanks great and helpful technique I seen I difference immediately

Ouch! This is exactly why so many people have voice problems. "Snatching inwards of the belly" is the opposite of support: it's called Pressure! And that will destroy your voice soon enough.
