I got the chance to review this modern cassette player and it really provided a unique experience that most people don't get to have nowadays and I think it provides a valuable insight into our listening habits.

Better buy a Vintage walkman and enjoy the good sound quality, the nostalgia and power of music. This we are rewind product is kinda good for the cassette culture but sadly it sounds like crap. 😢
  • I bought one of these we are rewind players, its coming tomorrow. psyched.

I got into cassettes last year as a sort of analogue Pomodoro timer for random tasks. And since you can find all kinds of incredible international music out thrifting (for almost nothing), often times with incredible musicianship that's not available online, it's been fun way to go treasure hunting and stay on task for things. Set a task, click it in, press play & enjoy the wobble wobble 😅. Take a break on Side B!
  • It’s great some companies try to revive this medium. Cassettes have their own original ambience to them. Irreplaceable ❤

Fiio has brand new player out now as well (cp13). It doesn't have Bluetooth or recording (recording on WAR isn't very good either), but has less wow&flutter and is slightly smaller. It is similarly priced and might be better available depending on your location.

For anyone considering recording: there has only ever been few pocket-sized recorders ever that were able to record above dictation quality, and they are expensive even if broken. Find an old boombox or bigger.

This takes me back, shopping for cassettes. If I’m honest it wont change how I listen as I’ve moved on from the ‘Walkman’. But man, I loved that thing back in the day

    Your link says: Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

Does it record to tape via Bluetooth or is that only for speaker play? I wish the window was completely clear instead of a small circle so we could better see where the tape is when recording into it.

I need some urgent advice! There’s a sale tomorrow in my region and I have the chance to get Stanmore 2 at the same price as Acton 3? Which speaker would you suggest me? Please reply

1:45 - And you really, actually own it... It won't be vanished if the provider company ceases (in contrast, see e.g. streaming platforms). It won't diesappear if the publication agreement between the artist and the provider company is over or broken (vs. the diesappearing songs from the streaming platforms). You can reach them even if your internet connection fails. You can listening to them even in the mountains and in the forests where network coverage does not even exist. :D Physical copies are essential for fans: :) [sorry for my weak English]

its interesting ... shame it uses not so good tech inside compared to even really old stuff
like the walkman 2 and later revisions showing how clever they were shrinking the size
but at the same time improving the whole listening experience on the go ... shame ...
still the music experience of going to the record store and getting the latest album and
looking at the artwork getting ready to listen to it as well was very exciting ... i love the new
way of getting/listening to music but i will be honest ... something seems missing with
the experience .... anyway happy new year danny !

It is a very nice looking portable cassette player. Did the pre-recorded tapes sound better than the first tape you showed? How long does the battery last? Man, I’d love to get that Phil Collins album on cassette ❤ great video, thanks for sharing 😊
  • Get a Walkman D6C. Don't have to worry about sound quality with that thing. ALL modern cassette decks unfortunately suffer from the same issue, they use the same tanashin mechanism which is cheap and noisy.

Mid range late 1990s walkmans sound way better so it's worth picking one up and fixing it.
  • @kasperjr
i always use a small dac and headphone amplifier (fiio) between an old cassette deck/walkman etc...and my cassette music sound like studio material! It really works very good!

I wish these players had rounded corners instead of these sharp ones. Back in the days, it was reasonable to produce devices like this with rounded shapes: thanks to the edge-less and sharpless profile, they did not disturb/harm your cloths, your pockets, your skin.
  • Cassettes on a good deck can sound quite good. Portables are a nice convenience but will never bring the best out of an analog format.

Like most people, you purchased a very low end cassette player(I don't mean brand) and also purchases a worn out cassette album that was recorded on a low end Type 1 cassette tape but don't get me wrong I made plenty of those kind of purchases also, until I purchased my first higher end Sony EX portable cassette player that 95% of people did not even know existed at the time, especially the ones that did not want a cassette player that cost $200 at the time when the average cassette Walkman's (SONY, JVC, Panasonic, Etc.) only cost about $20-$50, Sony EX Players even made worn out type 1 cassette tapes sound good but the real surprise came from Type 2 and 4 cassette tapes that were recorded with my higher end Sony ES deck with Dolby S from my higher end Sony ES CD Player, my later Sony EX Walkman even had Track Skip and Replay like my Sony ES Cassette Deck and now that Hi-Res audio has come out we can make even better sounding cassette recordings because the source is even more detailed
  • @skald9
If you listen on a decent player it can sound much better than mp3.
  • @benWTL
I'd love this but for CDs
  • @allanwhy
i like the teenage engineering inspiration, great device...
the bluetooth function is kind of funny but i just see it as unnecessary since it's messing with the analog cassette sound!
