I never expected Animal Well to be a horror game, but I clearly missed all the signs. Though I had a horrific experience with the game, I also had a blast that reinstilled a childlike wonder and desire for discovering secrets and making positive changes. How did you all enjoy the game and what were your favorite secrets?

Hope you all enjoyed this short video and hopefully it fills you with optimism in even your darkest of times.

Thank you all for your support and I will see you all in my next video! I would hope the next video is on a few movies I've recently seen such as the Iron Claw. If you’d like to support the channel then subscribe, share this with your friends, and support me on Patreon.

  • I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sees how dark Animal Well feels!!!! In my opinion the sound design is what really pushes it over the edge into true horror!!!
  • Statues are often used to pay homage to the deceased. They're all over Animal Hell-- i mean Well.
  • @-Pat
you know your game has done something right when a video essay of it comes out.
  • What an excellent video essay. Several things you said stuck out to me and not just for the game.

Even Hell can be made comfortable. Powerful! Many people are Living in a comfortable hell.

But not to get too deep or dark, just wanted to say great job on this!

When watching a YouTube video about a game feels more like watching the documentary of a work of art 😂
  • interesting interpretation of the game. If I had to describe it as horror, I would say it's soft horror, as nothing in the game necessarily is there to scare you, but become scary because of what it means for you. The kangaroos are just kangaroos, chameleon just a lizard, and they're really just minding their own business, but it is because you are the prey that they are so threatening. I found the game more atmospheric and thrilling than horrifying, but that is just my experience
  • thanks to this video I realized theres a door at the bottom of that well, lol
  • that was honestly an awesome video essay on Animal well and now that's gonna stick with me as I venture even further lol

Nice work! I'd love to see an essay on Slay the Princess, though it might be best to wait until the Pristine Cut update comes out
  • An interesting reading of the game. I think people will be playing this one for a long time
  • Gimme that gif of SpongeBob and Patrick on the rollercoaster

Only kidding - definitely a few good scares in this game, and the atmosphere is so unique and unsettling!
